Uber in London from Waterloo hotel to Heathrow

We will be going from a hotel in the Waterloo area to Heathrow for a 2 pm flight on Air Canada. Has anyone had experience with Uber?

They have three levels just as we have at home.

The prices run from 37£-106£ To Heathrow.We do use it with for airport transfers but in town we prefer the black taxis.

Is there a different uber app for London or will my USA app work while there?

Same app worldwide. Fares will be charged to your nominated card as a foreign currency transaction, unless 'pay cash' is available, so you'll want to use a fee-free card if possible.

These Uber fares seem high to me, then with exchange rates and cards taking a foreign currency cut as well. You would be better off using a 'proper' regulated cab. Or getting the hotel to book a reputable mini-cab firm. Uber has had its business model challenged over whether drivers are employed or not and lost in the UK courts, which is making it less competitive, already in Europe in Denmark uber has been banned.

London black cab drivers are keen for the same position here!!

Uber in London are 'proper' regulated cabs, as they are required to hold a mini-cab license.

Obviously black cab drivers would like Uber banned so they can carry on charging double the fare Uber charges. However the black cab drivers have lost every challenge so far, so not much chance of Uber going away.

Personally, I would get the hotel to order me a mini cab. Should be about £35 one way to LHR.

Which is the advantage of using Uber. Thousands of cars available in central London at any time.
