I have been at a few islands where we could just book a snorkeling excursion directly from the beach without advance reservations. We aren't sure we even want to snorkel but a couple of people in our group might be interest in going out for an hour or so .... has anyone that has been to 7 Mile Beach near the Royal Palm resort ever just booked that day? Any info helps!!

Snorkelling is not great along Seven Mile Beach. The conditions that make for excellent beach (smooth & sandy) make for boring snorkelling. You would likely be able to rent gear at the watersports rental place at Royal Palms, and putter around, but you won't see too much other than sand and maybe the occasional fish.

Along Seven Mile Beach, there is "okay" snorkelling at the other end from Royal Palms, around the Governor's Beach area, but there are no facilities there.

There is DIY snorkelling just to the right of the port area, at Eden Rock, but it's not really beginner level by any stretch of the imagination.

Excursions booked at the port will likely take you to Stingray City and/or the reefs on the other side of the island. You can book day-of, but they're likely to be bigger groups with less personal attention.
