Meeting friends at Harwich pre cruise

We are travelling, by transport provided by the cruise company, to Harwich from London leaving about 8.30 a.m. and we understand this gets us to Harwich about 11 a.m. We sail at 2p.m.. We have friends who live near by who would like to meet with us before we sail. Is this feasible?

Yes, just cancel the cruise line connections, and take which ever train you want. Harwich Intl Train Station is located AT the cruise terminal.

The cruise terminal area at Harwich is completely open and part of the ferry terminal/rail station complex.

There is a small cafe in the cruise terminal and other options in the rail station complex with bigger facilities for the ferries where you can meet and have a coffee before going through customs.
