Tabyana Beach through cruiseline question

We are undecided whether to do this excursion through the ship or go to the beach through a tour company. That's all we want to do for the day; however, do you get to see much of the island on the way to the beach?

Any one know how much a taxi from the cruise ship to Tabyana costs? And are there plenty of taxis there to return you to the ship afterwards?

I think you'll be better off booking through the ship. The pier is such a circus and seemed really shady to me. You get to see some spectacular views on the way from the top of the island. The ride itself is about 20-30 minutes and they have a van come back every 1/2 hour or so. Plus if you book through the ship you'll receive a wristband that will gain you access to the chairs. The guard was kicking people out of the chairs who didn't have the wristband. The whole experience was well worth the cruise ship price.
