Break down at the Kiel Canal delaying ships

Wow - one of the locks of the Kiel Canal has broken down - so the ships scheduled to go through have to wait. Never heard of this happening before - have you?

This morning the waiting time was about 6 hours.

Even the Royal Danish yacht Dannebrogen had to wait for

its turn to enter the canal.

Any idea how often this happens? Fortunately, it looks like it is getting fixed rather quickly. (At least to us. But it probably doesn't feel that way to those waiting to transit!)

I have never heard of this before (doesn't mean it doesn't happen) ergo my thread. Hoping someone who 'knows' comes on to give us the scoop. We are going through next year :)
