Miami Breach, mid-beach restaurant?

Will be in mid-beach (staying at Grand Beach Hotel) on Saturday for a night pre-cruise. Looking for recommendations for restaurant. Will be 4 of us (DW, DD 22, DS 19), interested in something with Cuban or Mexican flair, good food and drinks, bonus if view or good people watching. Havana 1957 looks fun, but their flagship location is booked so we'd have to do the Lincoln Road location. Any suggestions?

Little Brazil is a great little Brazilian restaurant on 69th and Collins, just a mile or so south of your Surfside hotel in the North Beach neighborhood. It is small and can get crowded, but the food is very good and it's a good local spot, especially for the Brazilian visitors and full-time residents.

There are a number of other restaurants along Harding Avenue in Surfside, very close to the hotel, but most are either Italian or Kosher. I am not a fan of Cuban food, so I cannot think of any around there. There used to be Ole, a Spanish tapas restaurant, but I am not sure if it is there any longer.

The St. Regis and One Bal Harbour hotels in neighboring Bal Harbour have restaurants with ocean views, and serve mostly American-type fare (steaks, seafood, etc.).

An excellent Mexican restaurant is Paquitos, in North Miami Beach, on 163rd & Biscayne Blvd (US1). This is about a 15 minute drive north and west of your hotel. Note: The City of North Miami Beach is NOT on the beach, but rather on the mainland, between North Miami and Aventura.
