Received the following from HAL re: our PC itinerary:

"Due to guest safety concerns the call to Acapulco has been replaced with a day at sea and the departure from Huatulco has been moved to 11 pm."

Will our pre-booked shore excursions automatically be cancelled and refunded or should I go out to the web site and do this manually?

If your shore excursion was booked with HAL, they will cancel and refund it to your on board account....at least that has been our experience.

Ships are sailing right past Acapulco every week, up and down that coast, because of the violence. Cancelling your call there was the right thing to do.

We used to visit Acapulco often, usually fly down. It was a paradise. Now it's a hell hole.

Sorry to hear this...

What a shame.... We loved Acapulco and enjoyed the views and history very much!!!

Hope you get your bookings reimbursed!!

Also, that they bring Mexico stops back!!!

:confused::confused::confused:

Thanks for all the replies. We have never been to Acapulco so it would have been nice to see it (the way it used to be, from what I'm reading). We were going to do a tour that included a baby turtle release, something we saw promoted on a Travel channel show years ago in a different place - decided then we wanted to do that if given the chance.

We're on a B2B so there will be other ports in which to do exciting things. Looking at the whole trip, though, there aren't that many ports - 4 west bound, 5 east bound - and 1 day each way transitting the PC and one day each way "scenic cruising" (which is still, for all intents and purposes, a sea day). So 9 ports + 2 PC transits, leaves 17 at sea days - good thing we like them!

We enjoyed the cliff divers during our port call several years ago! :) The divers were waiting at the "exit" from the viewing area at the end of their dives with their arms outstretched, palms open, waiting for/expecting "tips"! :D

Thanks for letting us know. I've been expecting this, sadly.
