seems like most hotels on Beijing are one the cheaper side , Have been looking at the Marriott the wall, just don't know if that is a good location prices running around 150 USD and I like that, can you suggest something may be closer to most big tourist things

Other than the Forbidden City, most to the sites like the great wall will probably require a day tour so the location of your hotel might be that critical. As of now, I don't think they have a hop on / hop off bus, but when they do, I would select a hotel near one of the stops. If your going to take a taxi, most of the drivers do not understand English. Have the hotel write where you are going in Chinese and have the door man confirm where you are going (some times even with this, the drivers will get lost or can't find where you want to go) Also get a business card from the hotel so that you can show it to the driver to get back after you see the sites.

I was mostly in Beijing on business so I stayed near the central financial business district and there are a lot of hotels at various price ranges. This area is within walking distance of the Forbidden City. Since you have not been to Beijing, I suggest that you have the hotel pick you up at the airport, the cost can be high, about $80 to $100. However, they had someone meet me as I walked off the plane and then escorted me through immigration and customs. The airport is very big so it was a great help after a long flight to have someone direct me. The other thing you might want to consider is including the buffet breakfast with your room rate. The buffets are very good, western and Chinese food.

We stayed at "Sitting on City Walls" Courtyard House. This has a great location. We were in a private double room with ensuite. It was basic, but comfortable and it was a real experience to be in a hutong.

We booked Raffles for an upcoming cruise, overnight during the cruise, for its location as well as it being a nice hotel. It's two minute walk to Tianeman Square and the Forbidden City. We did a lot of research (mostly TripAdvisor and Trivago) to research and Raffles gets high reviews and appears to have best location for this class hotel. And then we expect to take a day trip to the Wall.

The Raffles is the famous hotel Peking from year past, although it has update

and new towers. If you stay there tour the hotel as they still have (2 years ago) so parts of the old building, with the wonderful large suites from years ago, remodel and charming. You can't beat the location.

Several years ago I stayed at the Prime Hotel Beijing Wangfujing. I was very pleased with the accommodations and the location.

I took full advantage of the business cards both for the hotel and also for the sites I wanted to see. I knew if I tried to pronounce something, the likelihood was that we would not get there. But each time I handed a cab driver a card we got there easily.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn which was within walking distance of the Forbidden City and Tianammen square. They have a great breakfast buffet, too. And about a half block away is a 7-11 where you can get cheap snacks and drinks. Also close by, a McDonalds and the like.

The Hilton Wangfujing was great. It was very convenient to the Forbidden City and only one block from the pedestrian shopping street, Wangfujing.

We stayed in a room on the executive lounge level floor. It was very large, well appointed and had a great breakfast everyday. Happy hour drinks and food in the lounge were also great - although we were only able to take advantage of happy hour once during our stay.

We would not hesitate to stay here again.
