Thank you for your understanding

Jean, you must have read my mind. :) I was going to email Laura and asked if you all wanted to close my initial Radiance thread because of all the posts and start a new one.........but you beat me to it. Thank you so much.

I understanding wanting to start a new thread since the other one was getting so big, but could you perhaps add a link to that thread in the first post so people can reference it easily? It had a ton of great information and will be harder to find as time goes by with no new postings. Thanks!

Great ship we had a chance to sail in December of last year. Seaview Cafe was a highlight. Great fish n' chips when you wanted a late lunch before dinner. Reuben sandwiches, Cubans and onion rings were awesome! The amount of glass and openness to the sea was another highlight. Much better than the indoor mall experience on our first RCI cruise on the Mariner.

The original thread is here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=575048 and it would be great to have it handy at the beginning of this continuation. It's not being archived at this time, it is just closed to new posts. As suggested, if you would like to subscribe to this new thread: Click on Thread Tools> Choose: Subscribe to this Thread.

I left off one thing. Tuna Melt Sub on the Radiance at the Seaview Cafe was awesome also! I look forward to booking the Jewel of the Seas this year from Tampa. Seaview Cafe is just that good!

The only thing wrong with starting this new thread is that we don't have Patti as the author. The thread should have cruisenfever, not Help@ as the author. She has been the driving force behind this thread and has been a such help for any and all questions about the Radiance class ships.

Patti, thank you!! We all know who to ask about this class of ships. Oh, and have a great cruise in Australia!!! :D

Linda, I hope we'll get to cruise together again too! I know you're going to have a great time on the Radiance in Australia. Bob and I are booked for Australia in 2013 on the Solstice.

Thanks for the kind words Garry. :) It doesn't matter who author's a thread..........it's those that contribute information that will determine its success.

One tiny little thing I forgot to mention about our recent Alaska Radiance cruise - The free spin to win coupons in the C&A coupon book will now be a winner of a different casino keychain. Am I the only one with too many of those slot machine keychains? They are now VIP casino keychains that you will likely win.

Have there been any problems on the Radiance since the refit? Am sailing in November from Australia to New Zealand. Cannot wait to sail on this ship - it appears to be awesome!!!

I didn't see any problems. Their biggest problem seems to be filling all those restaurants with a ship with such low capacity compared to the megaships.

They had trouble getting people to Samba Grill when it was cold or rainy because there is no indoor access to that location on deck 12 aft. They began taking people to Samba through the crew stairs in the Windjammer - not an ideal location for guest passage.

I didn't see or hear of any plumbing problems on our recent 7 day cruise on Radiance. But they are still in the process of changing pipes - an ongoing event.

Here is the most recent CDC inspection report. It's dated August 23, 2011. Radiance got a high score of 96 but.....they had 40 violations.

http://wwwn.cdc.gov/InspectionQueryTool/InspectionDetailReport.aspx?ColI=MTYzNTYxMjI%3d-9dFe7pfC184%3d

Even the concierge lounge is mentioned but for some reason they haven't updated the deck location on the CDC information. Of course water leaks are mentioned around the ship. And the mention of chlorine testing errors is validation enough for my bringing my own drinking water on board.

I have to mention on Serenade of the Seas in August, I found the water in the dining room to be undrinkable for 2 nights because of strong chemical/chlorine taste. Apparently RD isn't the only one not getting the testing done properly - although RD's water was within range in spite of their error.

Some RCI ships got scores of 100.
