Rock Hounds - Geology

My husband is an amateur rock hound and he is looking forward to finding some interesting rocks in Belize. He was planning on going to a rock shop, but I would prefer he just go find something on the ground (cheaper, more meaningful, etc.) Does anyone have some incite on where there may be some interesting rocks?
