Just read on yahoo.com that the Carnival Splendor caught fire today. They didn't say much else. A fire in the engine room. Crazy!

That's the ship John Heald is CD for. He stated on Facebook that he hoped this sailing would be a quite, incident free trip, but very few are. Boy was he right !

And John Heald posted on his facebook page that he hoped this would be an "uneventful cruise". Seems every cruise since he has been on the Splendor, something strange happens.

Ironic that this should occur a day after they had a Coast Guard inspection.

OK, I know it's NOT funny and maybe I am a sicko, but I still had to stiffle a laugh when I read that 2 passengers and 1 crew member had panic attacks. **I wonder if the crew member was the Captain...or John Heald...hmmm?**

The story was picked up by a Miami TV station, but is was just a reprint of the original story. Nothing from the LA Times.

So the question, is do they try and continue the cruise or do they come back home?

The Daily Breeze is our local paper. I e-mailed them that it leaves on a Sunday to Sunday cruises. She fixed it.

I think it's legit. He hasn't posted on Facebook in awhile. Maybe his crazy 2012 doomsday freak sabotaged the engine room

I read the same thing last night. Poor John. I guess every trip is bound to have somethin happen.

If they have asked for assisstance from the USCG then they are probably operating at a minimum emergency power. No ac Probably no kitchen. Just minimum lighting , propulsion and the bridge up and running.
More than likely if they are able to navigate they are heading back to home port.
