Staircase from casino up to Promenade deck shops

Recommended Posts

Hi Rai.

I am very concerned about every video/deck plan I've seen showing that there is open circular staircase from the middle of the casino up to Promenade Deck.
Is the casino going to be smoke-free all of the time?
If not, how is Princess going to prevent cigarette smoke from choking everyone in the vicinity of the shops at the top of the stairs and making the Promenade deck reek?
If indeed this is an open stairway, and the casino is not smoke-free, I can tell you now that I will NEVER sail on the Royal or the Regal.
Thank you.

I am quoting my own post from 2 days ago, so that it will refresh, and perhaps Mr. Calouri will respond to it this time. Please, Mr. Calouri, this is an important question to many Princess passengers, as evidenced by this very issue arising as a sub-topic on other threads directed to you.

Thank you. Perhaps Rai did not respond to this thread, or others where this question was raised, is because these pictures clearly evidence that there is absolutely NO way to prevent the smoke from the casino rising to all the shops/atrium above. Not a good design move Princess! Non-smokers/asthmatics/people with allergies all need to know that this problem will exist on the Royal and Regal.

Perhaps the smoking area will be in the back portion of the casino away from the spiral staircase. If they have the latest technology in exhaust systems, it would direct the smoke out of the casino.

If the design doesn't work and smoke becomes a problem in the atrium, I would think they would make changes.

I would like to note that they have removed seating areas from some of the ships that attract smokers to the casino who aren't gambling.

Thanks for posting the pictures. I did not pay attention to the effects of that large open air staircase. Being allergic to smoke myself, I am a bit concerned, but feel with today's technology, smoke does not have to be an issue here. I am optomistic :). I am, however, concerned about the noise of all the slot machines filtering up to the quiet ambiance of the above spaces .
