Channel Islands from St. Malo

We're a couple who'll be 71/81 next year. We'll be in St. Malo again in Sept. 2015 and would like to travel to Jersey, Guernsey and possibly Sark for about 2 nights on each island (we took the ferry for a day trip in 1990 from St. Malo to Jersey). Any suggestions/recommendations? As I don't check CC very often, pls send any reply to cyr13408@yahoo.com. Thanks.

Yup,

Not only can it be done, but they offer day excursion fares and you will not be alone as it appears to be a popular day trip with French holidaymakers.

Service is run by Condor Ferries and uses high speed car carrying wave piercing catamarans.

It is a service we use regularly to get from St Malo to Poole (we are ticketed end to end but have to change in either Jersey or Guernsey) so I am talking from personal knowledge.

Tickets can be purchased on the day, but as you will be leaving about 08.30, buying your ticket the night before is a good idea, and, even if you are British, you will need your passport to go Jersey from St Malo, even though it is not needed if you go from Poole or Weymouth to Jersey.

The website is http://www.condorferries.fr

There is a link at the top to an English language version, but for some reason this takes you to the site which lists day trips from Jersey to St Malo but not the other way around, so you will just have to try and follow the French language site. If you are confused by the language, then the correct link on the page, for day trips, is the red button marked Excursion journée.

If you decide to leave it until you arrive, then don't worry about the language, the staff at the port speak perfect English, as do most of the businesses and hotels in the town..

Note: There are two Gare Maritime in St Malo. They are alongside each other, but I think the first one which used to be used by the now deduct Emeraude Lines is no longer used by anyone. Whatever the one you need is the second one, Gare Maritime du Naye, when walking from the town.

Anything you want to know about St Malo, just ask. I know the place very well indeed.

Note to Admin:

The OP has requested that replies be e-mailed to a yahoo e-mal address they give in their post and has not visited the site since posting the question.

I, however, am not prepared to disclose my e-mail address to a stranger and am therefore always suspicious of any request which de facto requires me to do so.

I have therefore simply posted my reply to the boards.

Would it be possible for you to forward my reply to the OP.

Kindest

CM

I saw the question in the forum list and was about to answer along the same lines as you Corfe Mixture (with a link to Condor Ferries).

However I think it is a bit strange of the OP to ask for reply via private email. In addition to being wary of sending personal information to a stranger, I believe that Cruise Critic Boards are not a personal service site and the answers should be available to everyone with a similar query.

If you are still looking for an English version of the website for the ferries between St Marlo, France and the Channel Islands, it is http://www.condorferries.co.uk

For Sark ferries it is http://www.sarkshippingcompany.com

Interesting. http://www.condorferries.co.uk is where I started from but I could only find excursion deals from the UK to CI/France and from CI to UK/France. I could only find the France to CI package deals on the French language pages.

Tried accessing through http://www.condorferries.fr and then clicking the Union Flag for the English language version, but that only took me to http://www.condorferries.co.uk
