Price and booking changes

Recommended Posts

So we are planning to book a cruise for our honeymoon. Up until today the Carnival website offered incentives of ship board credits and reduced deposit..this was gone today. Any chance that will show up again? Does it help to call the cruise line and ask for this offer?

We were undecided so we waited and now it looks like we missed a better deal. We are also worried about missing our chance for the room we want..

Suggestions?

Welcome to Cruise Critic! You could always try RCI! :D Don't know about Carnival specifically, but in general, specials come and go and likely others will follow the one that dropped off today. Certainly can't hurt to call them to see what they may offer - worst case is they say no to the one that you missed but then you are no worse of then you are now. But keep looking either way - I would think others will come along, depending on how soon or far off your honeymoon is.

Welcome to Cruise Critic!

Incentives vary all the time. Do you know a reputable travel agent? You often can get onboard credit from a travel agent. The travel agent should also be able to help you with any deals cruise lines may be running.

When are you planning your cruise? Carnival has an early saver program. You must book your cruise from 3 to 6 months ahead depending on the length of your cruise. Any time YOU find a lower price, you notify Carnival and they meet that price up until final payment. After final payment you get on board credit for any amount over what you have paid. But they will not tell you when price goes down, you must tell them and say where you saw the lower pricer. Once we had $240 OBC with early saver!

If you know in general where you would like to travel to, a good travel agent can do the research for you and come up with itinerary and pricing options. The specials come and go and if your cruise is several months away, it is likely to have some other sale between now and then but, the base pricing could go up so the "sale" price next month may be the same as the current base price. If you are set on Carnival and are far enough in advance, the Early Saver is a pretty good deal. Last June my family of four set sail with over $900 in on board credit due to price drops over the 10 months from when we booked until we sailed.

Special offers can come back, but no guarentee. The cruise line is going to offer deals where they need to increase sales. So you might see a deal on some cabin type, or some sailing dates, but not others.

As to not getting a room. Most ships sail full. So don't wait till the last minute
