hulamoon Posted March 13, 2015 #26 Share Posted March 13, 2015 I have never noticed this wonderful thing you are all discussing! I knew it was on the list, I just figured it was a ghost amenity. I will pay more attention as it sounds more useful that I thought.
CruisingChick Posted March 13, 2015 #27 Share Posted March 13, 2015 Definitely yes. We have about 30 of them here at home. Not sure what to do with them Sell them on Ebay. I bet someone will buy them.
dodger1964 Posted March 13, 2015 #28 Share Posted March 13, 2015 We always get them, never use them, always leave them. I just take my card, not my card and a holder. I know it might sound like a silly question, but what is the purpose of them? Why do the cards need a holder? The reason I use them is when we go to port I don't carry my "regular" billfold. Only take ship card, one credit card, drivers license and some cash. Easier to use the provided card holder for that than to unpack billfold or carry loose in pocket. chamima Posted March 13, 2015 #29 Share Posted March 13, 2015 I LOVE those holders but I always bring an old one "just in case" they've stopped giving them out. As someone else said I keep my room card on one side with any coupons (gelato, drinks, etc.) behind it, one credit card on the other side and cash (for tips) in the middle. I keep it either in my pocket or in a tiny shoulder bag I use for cruising. I leave the regular wallet in the safe.
TN Vol Fan Posted March 13, 2015 #30 Share Posted March 13, 2015 My DH usually gets the one provided in Concierge and uses it all during the trip. He's got several now that he uses when we go to land casinos for our players cards. I never thought to use one to protect my card from demagnetizing from the locks on my evening purses. One cruise I had to replace my card 4 times until we realized it was my favorite purse doing it in. It became a running gag between me and Guest Relations that trip. Thanks for the suggestion. LOL Karen -- isn't it great, having cute little bags, just for cruising? ;) At home, I usually drag around a purse the size of a small car. But for cruises, I have the cutest collection of bags -- just big enough for my ship card, my reading glasses, and (of course) a lipstick! :p

Well, I still make a conscious effort NOT to put my room card in a purse compartment that's directly adjacent to a magnetic clasp. But, do I think that keeping it in the "pleather" card hold has provided some protection from getting de-magnetized. Like you, I've had to make multiple trips to GR, to get my card replaced (or re-magnetized) -- it gets embarrassing (lol)! :o
Iamthesea Posted March 13, 2015 Author #33 Share Posted March 13, 2015 "Pleather" ! That's the word I was looking for when I posted this thread. All I could think of was leatherette. :D I LOVE those holders but I always bring an old one "just in case" they've stopped giving them out.As someone else said I keep my room card on one side with any coupons (gelato, drinks, etc.) behind it, one credit card on the other side and cash (for tips) in the middle. On our cruise last month, I though I had packed one of our pleather holders because I knew we would not get one with our 1A stateroom. Once we settled in to the stateroom, I could not find it anywhere. :( We really missed the holder on that cruise. We were constantly rummaging through our beach bag or my PacSafe to find the cards. The ink on the cards also wore off easier without the protection. Not taking any chances in two weeks. :)

Rare groryjm Posted March 14, 2015 #38 Share Posted March 14, 2015 We were in a CS on the Med last June and didn't receive these :( I know it's only a little thing but is this something we should expect and if not ask for on our next cruise? Rare keesar Posted March 15, 2015 #42 Share Posted March 15, 2015 We cruised in Aqua a few weeks ago and we did not get one of those deluxe card holders. But anticipating cutbacks, I brought two from previous cruises from home. They do come in handy on a cruise, especially when heading to the beach. Next time, I will remember to bring my own chocolates and put them on the pillows at night. Or better, give them to the attendant so I can be surprised! Rare Lois R Posted March 15, 2015 #43 Share Posted March 15, 2015 I have never cruised in a suite but I must have a 1/2 dozen of them.... They must have been from when I sailed in AQ and/or CC in the past and I brought them home with me. If someone wants one? You are more than welcome to pay the postage and I will snail mail a couple of them to you:D

cle-guy Posted March 15, 2015 #46 Share Posted March 15, 2015 OK, I thought that a was passably bilingual but I am foxed by this one. What does "torch" mean on your side of the pond. [i do hope that it is not indecent!] In the US torch is a stick with a flame at the end of it. Think Indiana Jones exploring old caves with a fire-lit flaming stick. Torch is also a device used often by plumbers to heat pipes to let the solder heat and meld the pipes together. Attached to a small can of propane. And sometimes referred to as a cigarette lighter. chamima Posted March 15, 2015 #48 Share Posted March 15, 2015 Didn't the letter from the new President say that the nightly chocolates will be back? We were on cruises for all of February (with terrible internet access) so I didn't read CC at all. Where can I find this letter?
