Who Has Reserved Nellie's Beach Cabana? Got Questions...

Was checking out an Allure itinerary that includes Labadee, Haiti. Curious about the experiences of those who have reserved the cabanas at Nellie's. I specifically would like to know about the private buffet and what is served. How far is the beach area from the cabana area? Anything else you can share is appreciated. :)

We have 6 in our family, so we felt the value was good for us since the cabana rental includes mats and water. We are all very fair and all take a medicine for a thyroid condition which makes us sensitive to sun.

We had an over the water cabana which was right on the water. The beach cabanas are also very close to the beach. With the cabanas on the hillside, you will definitely have a longer walk compared to the other 2 options.

We enjoyed the private buffet but it is my understanding that the Nellie's cabanas no longer come with the private buffet at Barefoot. We are doing a cruise next summer and will be doing the cabana again even though the private buffet is no longer included.

With all of this being said, I don't know if I would be booking a cabana if it was just for the 2 of us.

The upgraded buffet was nothing to write home about. A search will bring thousands of posts ref cabanas. Some come with photos. We loved the over the water one. Great fun diving into the sea. I felt bad for the young kids from the beach. They really wanted to dive off of the ladder down into the water but the cabana attendant kept shooing them away.

I've had the private buffet at Coco Cay, and while it was good it wasn't exactly extraordinary. I don't mind eating at Nellie's regular buffet, as long as there is some kind of meal included in that $225-$250 cost.

It is the same meal that everyone on Labadee gets.

In October we had a beach cabana on Nellies with the "upgraded" buffet as well. In January we had an over the water cabana, at the time I booked the upgraded buffet was no longer listed as a perk. However when we arrived we got a wristband and was escorted over to the upgraded buffet. The biggest benefit on this buffet (I think) is that it was not very crowded, the longest line was about 10 people.

Oh, this buffet has steak (which wasn't bad) and shrimp kabobs.

We had a beach cabana on Nellies Beach in January. It cost $225. We did get the upgraded buffet at that time but it's no longer included. The best thing about that buffet was that there was not a long line. You get the beach mats and a cooler with bottled water. The cabana was right on the beach and we just walked a little ways to get in the water.

We loved ours on Nellie's. We had cabana 2, over the water. Loved it. Had steps and a rail right down into the water. Shared the $250 with others, so no worse cost wise than a shore excursion. We had upgraded buffet in December, but it has been discontinued unless you purchased it by October 1, 2013. Not a huge biggie. We loved ours. Here's a picture.

Is the beach private like Barefoot? If not- is it crowded? I have had 3 cabanas on Barefoot Beach- we loved it. WE reserved the over the water cabana for an upcoming cruise on Nellie's beach. Those who have had cabanas on Nellies- would you do it again? It is just the two of us.

The beach at Nellie's is not private.

Have reserved a nellies beach cabana with RCL and Celebrity. The cabanans can be beach front, close to the water, or Hillside, a little walk from the water. You have a butler, who will set chairs and towels down for you on the beach if you like in addition to the furniture in your cabana. The cabana has two lounge chairs an a wicker couch. Comfortable for a total of 4- but six will also work. You have an overhead fan. your butler also gives you a cooler with bottled water and will bring you drinks if you like. Then about noon, you are escorted to a gated private area for lunch. You can walk or go by golf cart. The lunch is a very nice barbecue. Much shorter lines then the main barbecue and the food is supposed to be more deluxe. Since we have only had Cabanas, not exactly sure the barbecue difference.

We love the cabanas and I think you will also.

Enjoy your cruise!

The buffet that folks on Nellies that folks were going to has been discontinued unless your cabana was reserved before October 2013. You just go to one of the buffets that everyone else goes to. There have been exceptions made, but it's not the norm to go to the upscale lunch, which wasn't as upscale as I thought in December.

We loved our cabana, would do it again, and it's not crowded even though it's not a private beach. We loved cabana #2. Clarea might know where the picture is that numbers the cabanas. #2 was over the water but close to everything.

Thanks!!!

My only comment is that when we first arrived for lunch, certain items weren't on the buffet, like the grilled shimp- so if you take your food and go- you might miss a food item that might be put out late- or they might run out of something you really like if you do not come early. The seating area is fine. Many shaded picnic tables and a bar nearby.

The Nellie's Beach Cabanas don't get the buffet with the grilled shrimp. That was on the enhanced buffet on Barefoot Beach. The regular buffet is hot dogs, hamburgers, and cheeseburgers plus salads and other picnic foods.

Just had lunch a few months ago on the Celebrity Silhouette that stopped at Labadee, at Barefoot Beach. We also did it on a Royal sailing.

All Nellies Beach and Hillside Cabana's had lunch at Barefoot Beach. Actually we have been three times in Cabana's on Nellies and always had lunch at Barefoot Beach.

Have they just changed the rules? Both Celebrity and Royal?

Txs

On October 5, 2013, RCCI changed the amenities for Nellies Beach Cabanas and no longer included the enhanced buffet. Any reservations made prior to that date were honored with including the buffet. Some people have returned and reported they got the buffet anyway but not always. I think, sometimes, it depends on how well your cabin steward treats you. He may, some how, be able to get the wrist bands required for the buffet. About the only difference between the two buffets are the grilled shrimp and steaks. Every thing else is about the same.
