Default Christmas cruise - formal night ?

We will be on the Zuiderdam Christmas cruise. Will formal nights be the same as usual - 1st and last sea days? Or will Christmas night also be considered formal?

Our nights are as follows:
Ft. Lauderdale
At Sea - formal
At Sea
Curacao - Christmas Eve
Aruba - Christmas Day
At Sea - formal
Half Moon Cay

And, are there any special Christmas activities on-board that we can look forward to?

I don't think you will have three formal nights despite it being Christmas.
My guess is formal optional for Curacao IF you have a late sailaway.
They may make first and last sea days formal with Christmas Eve (Curacao) formal optional depending what time you sail.

IMO

I agree with sail about the 2 regular formal nights - 1st and last sea day.

Since you leave Curacao at 5 PM -- that likely will be an "optional" formal night.

Thanks for the replies.

"Optional" formal - now that that should be interesting!

Before I realized these nights might be a dress up issue, I had planned on wearing a smart casual red top with nice pants on Christmas Eve and a smart casual green top on Christmas night (with jewelry to dress them up more). I am hoping that is ok. And, dh was going to wear red/green polo type shirts to match me. Will this be a no-no?

We sail next week!

if they call Christmas Eve "Formal Optional", you will be fine. DH might want to put a blazer/jacket over his polo jersey seeing it's such a festive night?

If they make Christmas Eve formal, DH will need to wear a jacket and tie.

Thanks, sounds good. You are always so polite and helpful!!

Your advice for this cruise has been much appreciated. This Zuiderdam cruise is our 9th HAL cruise but the last time we sailed with HAL was 1998!! We've been off sailing with Princess, RCCL and Disney. We started 25 years ago with HAL and it will be "interesting" to get back.

P.S. I already told him to be ready with the coat and tie in case Christmas is formal. He's bringing a Christmas tie!
