Worth paying for deck 8/9 on majesty?

Recommended Posts

I'm currently booked on deck 4 but had a call from Thompson tonight asking if I wanted to upgrade to deck 9 - which has a bigger window, the only difference ( apart from being 'nearer to the amenities') for an extra £50.

Does anyone know if it's worth doing so? Thank you.

Depending if you take outside cabin and want a unrestricted view as far as deck 8 is concerned deck 9 I'm not sure about we are on deck 7 hoping the the view is totally not restricted . Keith & Catherine

Hi K & C

I dont think all cabins on deck 8 have unrestricted views. We originally booked 858 and after looking on this site

http://www.dolphin-hellas.gr/Cruises/Louis-cruises/Ships/cruise-ship-decks-majesty.htm#vik and doing a bit of research it appeared this cabin along with others have restricted views due to what seems to be the mechanical arms for raising and lowering of lifeboats. We changed to deck 4

Agree with Joe, we had deck 4 on the Majesty, cabin 426, right by the lifts (but no noise :)) up one floor to the restaurants and up two to Show Lounge. We were under reception area, so no noise there. Deck 8 is under the pools and you may get noise from that?

some of the cabins on deck 10 now have balconies, and someone who just got back on thursday said there are some balconies on 9 too, BTW when are you sailing?

We have always had outside plus on deck 4 but last cruise we had to upgrade to deck 6 as there were no outside plus cabins left on deck 4. Honestly, IMO there was no advantage at all. The cabin was exactly the same.

I think we were on deck 9 last year. We had a junior suite and an outside plus. The views were highly obstructed.

I liked the JS for its size, but if planning to spend a lot of time in the cabin, the view would be an issue.

As for being close to amenities, you are one deck for the sun deck (buffet and pool), and on the same deck as the kids club and one of the bars. The main decks are 5 and 6.

We have just come back of the majestic and was on deck 6 inside 6019, it was fine a cabin for 3 people but on looking on the outside cabins on the same deck was quite roomy in comparison, the MDR are located on deck 5 and 6 is a short walk to the jubilee show lounge casino, and polo lounge bar, deck 9 is under the the pools two ss restaurant and two bars, also on deck 9 you have the kids club royal observorty bar which is a piano and violin bar not exactly rocking, but for my money would stay lower down.

Hi Villalady, We were on 9 last year, good size cabin but noise from deck 10 can be a bit much at times. The worst was when tables were re-arranged on a morning EARLY!! and food trolleys trundling across deck. The evenings were not bad as we are late night birds on holiday.
