Default question about gratuities

If you don't prepay them do they automatically add them to your account to pay on ship? Either way you have to pay them right?

Correct, if you don't prepay them, they will be added on to your S&S account. You don't HAVE to pay them. If you feel that you actually received terrible service, then you can reduce the amount of gratuities to a specific area (dining room, room steward, etc.), but fortunately, we have never had to do this. I have left the recommended tipping amount alone and many times have tipped extra in cash to the employees who were superb.

They will automatically add them, but you don't have to pay them as you can have them removed. We have never had tips removed and personally feel the auto tips are not enough. So we always tip additionally in cash.

Oddly I had a dream last night that the waitor in the MDR never brought my food even though everyone else got theirs. I thought that I might remove the tips. When I woke up I relized I've been packing on the pounds and the dream waitor probably was trying to do me a favor :-)

yup. just go to guest services and and ask for them to be removed. they will ask why you want them removed just like the cable tv, phone, and credit card companies ask why you are dropping their company, how the company can improve service, blah blah blah.

Default Pre-Pay?

Question... how do I go about Pre-Paying gratuities? Do I need to call Carnival? If so what department?

Sorry OP, not trying to hi-jack, just thought it sounded like a good idea for my upcoming B2B.

Cheers!

Wow, I don't look at it is HAVING to pay them. To me, auto-tipping is a convenient & fair way to extend gratuities to those so deserving. We often pre-pay them to get them "out of the way", because we know the service will be amazing as always. They haven't let me down yet.

And yes, you can always adjust them up or down at Guest Services.

To prepay them just call the regular Carnival toll-free number & tell them that's what you want to do...easy peasy.

if you used an outside agency you must have your agent do this. We prepay so its one less thing to worry about when on a cruise

I used a Carnivall PVP so I should just be able to call. Thanks for the info and appologies to the OP for the hi-jacking!

Cheers!
