Tortola 7-1 local or ship time?

Please help I am very confuse with time,when ship in port what time we should use ship or island?

I want to book dolphin swim and not sure if we will have enough time to do it?

The swim is going to start at 10 am local time I think ,we need to be at back on ship by 1pm ship time?

If you are there during DST ship time will be 1 hr ahead of Tortola time. Otherwise there is no diff because the BVI does not observe DST.

We are going to be in port for this time frame. I was wondering if this plan is feasible...we are in a suite so we can get off the ship quickly, grab a taxi to Brewers...stay until about ten or ten thirty..taxi back and then go to Sunny Caribee for a few gifts and then back to the ship...will I have enough time? How long is the ride to/from Brewers...should I choose a closer beach. We do like to snorkel.

That is an excellent plan, Brewers is ideal for a nice beach day away from the crowds and offers excellent snorkeling to boot! Taxi is 20 min, 8pp each way.

You are always on Ship Time no matter what Local Time is. :)

Yes, but I believe there would be an hour difference if in port during DST (March 9 - Nov 7) since the BVI doesn't observe DST and if I remember correctly ship time is tied to US eastern time which does observe DST. So murzick would just need to be aware of that, especially if going on their own.

These early morning port calls are just too short! :rolleyes:

After I posted I checked time difference by myself as well .

So if you are going now until November : the time on the ship and local time are the same on all British Virgin Islands and St Martin.

After time change in November they are all hour ahead of ship time.

Sorry, I wasn't accounting for time zones...

During DST, ship time will be the same as Tortola and most of the Carib islands (not PR) because the 1 hr time zone diff is erased by the DST that the US observes (as do the ships that depart from there).

During Std time, ship time will be 1 hr ahead of the islands (back to the normal 1 hr time zone diff).

We take land vacations on the islands so once there we don't think about the difference...
