Default High Surf Advisory NWS San Juan 5 pm Thu Aug 5

COASTAL FLOOD STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN JUAN PR
205 PM AST THU AUG 5 2004

...A HIGH SURF ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH AND EAST FACING
COASTS OF PUERTO RICO...VIEQUES AND ST. CROIX IN THE U.S. VIRGIN
ISLANDS HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED...

...A SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE CARIBBEAN WATERS
AND THE MONA PASSAGE...

THE TROPICAL WAVE THAT HAS BEEN GENERATING LONG PERIOD SWELLS WITH
STRONG AND GUSTY SOUTHEAST WINDS OVER THE LOCAL CARIBBEAN WATERS HAS
CONTINUED TO MOVE OUT OF THE LOCAL AREA. SURFACE OBSERVATIONS AND
REPORTS BY LOCAL AGENCIES HAVE INDICATED THAT SURF CONDITIONS ALONG
THE SOUTH AND EAST FACING COAST OF PUERTO RICO...VIEQUES AND SAINT
CROIX HAVE SUBSIDED. AS A RESULT THE HEAVY SURF ADVISORY HAS
BEEN DISCONTINUED. GUSTY WINDS AND CHOPPY SEAS ARE STILL HOWEVER
EXPECTED TO OCCUR ACROSS THE LOCAL CARIBBEAN WATERS...THEREFORE
BEACHGOERS AND SMALL CRAFT OPERATORS SHOULD TAKE THE NECESSARY
PRECAUTIONS ACROSS THESE AREAS.
