Rum tour

I think the finest old rums come from Martinique and I would love to tour a few of the rhummeries. Is there a scheduled tour that I can take? I would like to buy some aged rum to take home. Do they sell at the Rhummeries or is there a recommended shop? Trois Riveres is my favorite. Better than cognac.

Unfortunatly there is no rumtour schedule. But you can do it by your own if you want to.

Distilleries you can visit : Dillon distillery (Fort-de-france), Depaz (St pierre), Neisson (martinicans' favorite rum in Carbet), Trois Rivières (Ste luce), St James (Ste Marie), Clément (François), St etienne (Gros Morne), la favorite (lamentin) and La Mauny (Rivière Pilote).

All distilleries sell rum. Trois Rivières distillery is closed for a few monthes, but you could go to st pierre and visit Neisson and Depaz which are close. If you choose to stay in fort-de -france, visit Dillon Distillery where they sell rum. On your way you'll find Carrefour supermarket where you'll find everything you want.

Whatever you'll choose, you'll have to rent a cab or a car.

Enjoy Martinique and....don't drink too much:D

People after my own heart! Here's one of my favorite labels for the aged rum: J Bally, also in Carbet I'm pretty sure.

I do wish it were easier to find rhum agricole in the western USA! Brazillian cachaca is close in flavour, but just not the same.

On their tour sheet they stop at one distillery. I would like to see Trios Rivers, Bally, Clement and any other quality rhumeries. I gues if we can get 4 people we should be able to get a cab to take us on a tour. I'm on the 11/15 Volendam.

A little help?

Be careful, Trois Rivières is not on the part of the island that Neisson,etc...

If you only stay at port till 2pm it will be short. So you'll have to choose.

next to Fort-de-France :

-la favorite

- Rhums Dillon (that also sells Depaz and Bally)

- Rhum st Etienne

North west coast:

- Depaz distillery (really nice park and factory in st pierre)

- Rhums Neisson : favorite rhum of martinicans "connaisseurs"

north Esat coast:

- St James (museum, production and you can buy rhum)

South :

- Habitation Clément (nice park but no factory, you can buy rhum)

- Trois Rivières (but you can't visit the factory, you can buy rhum)

- La Mauny ( factory)

What you need to know is that factories distillate rhums between february to may.

Have a good time but don't drink too much...50°!!!!:D

In the United States you can buy rhum http://www.caribbean-spirits.com/ and there's the new york rum fest on november 14th
