Just back from the SUN. Executive chef Jason Drysdale mentioned that the Pacific Heights restaurant would be converted from Cooking Light to Low Carb & other specialty diet menus in the future without indicating an exact date, possible next year.

I've been wondering if anyone returning from the Sun would post. How was your cruise? We're going to Alaska in June and would appreciate any information.

What shape is the ship in after dry dock?

This is awesome news! Low/No carb is the way to go! I hope other cruise lines try this too. NCL is great at being ahead of the game on what people want!!!

I'm really disappointed in this decision. Now those of us who are watching fat grams and calories won't have that option on NCL, at least not as easily. I hope they'll at least retain some low-fat, low-cal options on the menus even after their contract with Cooking Light ends. When Jason was talking, I got the impression NCL and Cooking Light were sparring a bit and the change was the result of some bad blood, not just trend following.

The Cooking Light dishes in the main dining rooms were delicious, although the ones in the Sun's Cooking Light restaurant, Pacific Heights, were really bland, we thought.

ute fan, the Sun looks fabulous--spanking clean and sparkling! New carpet almost everywhere, refreshed fabrics most places, new paint all over the ship. The crew is just marvelous. You'll love it!

SecondMate --

Thanks for much. After reading about some of the bad experiences people are having on other ships, I was getting a little worried.

We are taking our kids on this cruise, as sort of a high school graduation present for my daughter, and I am hoping for a great experience for them.
