What is the difference between face up blackjack and fun 21? If my memory serves me correctly, fun 21 takes out all the queens? but what is face up? just the cards are dealt face up, but its a full deck?

Spanish 21 is the game where some of the 10 value cards are removed. Fun or Super Fun 21 is where a Blackjack pays even money unless both cards are Diamonds, then it pays double. On this game you're allowed to double down even after hitting, you're allowed to re-split Aces and there are special payouts for 5 and 6 card 21s. Player Blackjacks are always paid even if dealer has Blackjack. (At least those are the Las Vegas rules for Fun 21).

Face up Blackjack is dealt from a multi deck shoe, Fun 21 is usually Single or Double deck and the cards are pitched by the dealer.

Hey guys, I usually lurk around the Carnival thread and just stumbled upon this board. Pretty neat. Thanks for the table!

Face up, I personally think is a rip. With seeing the dealers up cards, it changes things A LOT! And if you push, you lose.

Fun 21 on the other hand, I love! You can double down on anything. So you hit a 2-3. Draw a 5. You can double down on that. Pretty cool. I seem to do better than regular BJ. They also pay 2 to 1 on stuff like 7-7-7 and 6-7-8.

Looking for a cruise line out of the US, that offers all free drinks, including alcoholic ones, in the up front cost of the cruise. We're fed up getting the additional bill at the end of a vacation. It's bad enough paying all the enforced "tips". We'd like to pay everything up front.

You'll find them. Seabourne is one example. I believe Crystal also (not sure on this one). But don't be alarmed at the cruise prices. "all inclusive" is just that.

As Robert Heinlein often reminded us, TANSTAAFL.

Enjoy your cruises.

I had an ad recently from Costa Cruises - their package includes drinks and any restaurant - no add ons for specialty restaurants

I am assuming that Texas Hold 'Em Poker Pro is just a video poker machine? Is this correct?

You play against human opponents all sitting around a big table, but the cards are dealt electronically and the computer rakes in the house cut and keeps track of your winnings or losings. You deposit money or cash out on your S&S card.

You just hit the right button in front of you to bet, check, or fold. Your cards are "dealt" on the screen in front of you, and it behooves you to shield them from the person next to you who might otherwise peek at them, same as with an actual deck of cards. The common cards are dealt in the screen in the middle of the table. After the hand is over the computer determines who wins the hand and awards the winnings to that person.

Silverscreen is correct. It is $1-$2 No Limit Texas Holdem and the hands are dealt electronically instead of with live dealers. I played it on the Carnival Pride last week. I didn't think I would like it but I did. There wasn't a lot of interest last week but usually a game would get going about 11 pm every night and the game would last about 3 hours or so. 10 players max per table.

They also had tournaments available but there wasn't enough interest to get one going.

The Poker Pro table also takes a rake, just like live dealers in the land based casinos. My last cruise was in 2011, so I don't remember what the rake percentage was but it has probably changed since then. I know I've seen different rake amounts listed on this forum in various places. If you do a search on the forum, I'm sure you'll find that info.

That said, we played the Poker Pro table on our last cruise and we almost always got a full table after dinner all week and during the afternoon on sea days. It seemed to always be the same regular group of players though which can be really fun or not, depending on the group. Our's was fun since every time a new player sat down, he lost and we would keep playing until the next player came in. :)

I was just on the Carnival Pride a couple weeks ago and the rake was 15% and a max of $8 per hand.

Lisa, I have seen pics of two Poker Pro tables on the Carnival Magic, which I'm going on in a few months. I think you can safely assume Poker Pro electronic tables will be on the Carnival Breeze.
