Sticking to one cruise line..why?

I have seen a lot of people only stick to cruising on one cruise line and are very loyal to it. I'm just wondering why? Are the perks that great for repeat guests? I guess some say "If it's not broken, why fix it?"...but doesn't it get boring to see some of the same activities over and over again? The food must get boring after awhile as well. I guess I like variety and try what the different cruise lines have to offer. If the price is right, I'd be willing to go on any cruise line! =)

because people find something they like and are comfortable with it. why risk picking something else - especially if they are investing their main vacation time in it - only to find it was so different from their comfort zone. its no different to people staying with the same car manufacture - if its done right for you in the past why change?

I like change so I pick a cruise that will suit me and not give consideration to the cruise line. it does mean that I won't get rewarded for being a loyal customer but that's not high of my list of needs.

We did 3 Disney cruises (till they got too outrageously expensive for the times we could cruise) then 16 CCL cruises (with #17 coming up in Feb.) Last week I book NCL Breakaway for August! Why the change? I was going to book CCL Freedom. It was literally 1/2 the price of Breakaway - and then there was crazy high airfare to FLL to add on for 3 of us, and a pre-cruise hotel. It was still cheaper by $1,000 to sail on Freedom. Then I got a great price on the brand-new Breakaway - it came to the same base price as Freedom, for the same category balcony. So, apples to apples - I decided to try something new, even though the thought of a new crowded mega-ship that charges for a lot of the restaurant venues bothers me a bit. I can always escape to my balcony! I am looking forward to new shows, new food, new entertainment - and Bermuda!!:)

my brother and sister (and thier families) have been on most of the major lines and are always asking us to switch.

And I tell them everytime, why should I pay more when Carnival has everything I want and need. I dont care to see the Blue Man Group, Flowride, rockclimb, pay more money to eat in high class restaurants, heck we dont even go to the steakhouse on carnival.

We enjoy hanging out on the outside decks during the day, and the casino or one of the bars at night. Carnival takes me to the Caribbean every winter and away from the cold of Canada.

So why pay more for on another line when Carnival meets all our needs. When and if I PERSONALLY have a problem with Carnival or its itinerary's i might look else where but until then I am happy :)

I hate sameness and predictability so I am loyal to no line. We cruise for adventure and to have new experiences, but I get that some people are uncomfortable with change and like having a similar experience each time they cruise. I'd be bored to tears.

That's great you got a good deal on the Breakaway-! Yes the freestyle concept I am not a fan of, but I still do enjoy the entertainment on board NCL ships. I havent been on the Breakaway yet but going there in October. I'm trying to not let the negative reviews get to me. Hopefully it is a good time!.You will absolutely love Bermuda...it's expensive but such a beautiful island!

We share your same thoughts. Have our favorites from line to line but in the end the itinerary, ship or price is what our decision is based on. We generally don't even take advantage of any perks offered other then laundry, internet or drinks from time to time. Enjoy :)

Our last cruise was a 49 day b2b2b on the Grand Princess. I would estimate that the OBC and other perks we got were probably worth $3,000 to $3,500. We sail mostly with Princess since we like their itineraries. We have also made lots of friends and usually run into several each cruise - sometimes on the Roll Call before and sometimes on the ship.

I thought that I would be a Princess loyalist but since I have limited vacation time and limited funds I'm kind of stuck just doing Caribbean itineraries. I really enjoy the Princess experience but even with my Platinum perks it was more economical to sail with Celebrity. They were offering some nice perks and more importantly they had the itinerary I wanted. I guess if you are lucky enough to have found a good TA that discounts Princess sailings and offers OBC's than I can understand the loyalty. Unlike other lines Princess also allows you to combine OBC'S such as share holder, military, Princess visa, FCC obc, TA obc and Elite obc. Did I leave any out? Given all of that plus the Platinum and Elite perks why would you sail on another line?

It's probably the same thing that makes some people go to the same place for vacation every year - they had fun, they can relax, and they feel comfortable. I like change, but my vacations tend to be all "go-go-go" with lots of activities, so I'm looking forward to the relaxing aspect of a cruise this time around.

Just wondering why doesn't Carnival go to Bermuda from NY?

My very first cruise was on celebrity Zenith to Bermuda from NY. I may have to get on the breakaway to do so!! :)

Carnival what's up with that?

Since I have to fly to port and do other types of vacation as well, I can really omy cruise once every couple years. If I could drive to port and do a 4 day over a weekend, i may be more open to trying different lines. But Mom and I like Carnival and we like the experience. Why change just to change if we're happy?

I have had the best service, food, and prices on carnival. I tried RCL twice. the first time the service was bad, and food was terrible. second time was a BIT better, but not great and both RCL cruises I paid double than any carnival cruise I have taken. I just cant beat the carnival prices. As far as the activities, they are both pretty much the same. I found carnivals entertainment better. They were charging for filet mingon and lobster on rcl (I don't eat lobster, but I do eat that filet)I was REALLY disappointed with that. Carnival just works best for me

I have been a Princess loyalist to the tune of 17 cruises so far, with 2 more booked for later this year.

My reasons for choosing not to try another cruiseline ...

1) I like Princess' itineraries

2) I like the quality of Princess' service, both in my contacts with the CSAs precruise and with the crew members of all levels onboard Princess ships.

3) I like the casually elegant decor of Princess ships, and the accomodations, no matter what category of cabin I choose.

4) I like the food and the dining options offered on Princess ships

5) I have done many Princess excursions, and like the variety available to me.

6) I love the comfort level I have ..... the feeling of returning to a familiar and welcoming place every time I board a Princess ship. I know what to expect, and Princess has not disappointed me.

Elite perks are great, but they are not the reason I continue cruising with Princess.

I just like Princess' product.

ps. ** JMHO **

Why? Because it's personal preference. Some people like variety. Some people find something they like and stick to it. There could be a host of other reasons. Don't see why anyone's personal choices need to be explained on something like this. To each his or her own.

Yes, the perks are great for returning guests with Princess, that's why we stick with them:)

I have only been on Carnival and NCL, but would be happy to try any line. I think most lines offer some new experiences that you can't get by sticking with the same line all of the time. I know that a lot of people are brand loyal to Carnival because of the price, but I think that they would be surprised that some of the other lines like NCL, RCCL, and Princess offer some pretty cheap fares comparible to Carnival when sales are going. It's like not ever eating a certain dish because you know you like steak and are happy with it. But if you ever did try the lobster, you may find out that you love it more.

I have been on 5 of the major cruise lines but I always seem to enjoy Carnival best. 12 CC cruises and can honestly say they have all been great. I'm expecting the same from upcoming # 13. When I switch to another line it is usually due to port selection and dates available for me to travel.

I have sailed on Carnival, Celebrity, Princess and NCL. We tend to cruise on the line that fits our budget and provides the entertainment and itineraries we like. We are Platinum on Carnival but if a different line offers what we want at a reasonable price then we sail that line.

Our last cruise was on Princess but our next 3 are on Carnival.
