chris11256 Posted June 23, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 23, 2016 (edited) This may sound like a daft question, but how much time should I allow for unloading/CPS taking my car? I've got a 15:30 slot for embarkation, so am trying to work out what time to drive to terminal. Thanks, Chris Edited June 23, 2016 by chris11256
jeanlyon Posted June 23, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 23, 2016 Don't worry, just arrive 15 minutes before. You will be directed into a lane. Someone will take your bags, another will check your car, get you to sign something and off you go. 10 minutes max.

M25 can mess up your timings in a heartbeat. In December we had a 3.30 time, leaving Essex at 10 for a leisurely drive stopping off at services for half an hour we arrived at port at 1.30 and were onboard by 2.20 well before our allotted time. chris11256 Posted June 23, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted June 23, 2016 We're staying in the West Quay premier inn rather than drive on the day. Not to turn this into another embarkation thread, but I've read increasing reports about people getting on way before their allotted time. So may well risk it. Thejuggler Posted June 23, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 23, 2016 Best time from arriving to bags out of car, car checked in 20 minutes. Worst 2 hours when CPS lost the plot completely.
Spike11 Posted June 24, 2016 #7 Share Posted June 24, 2016 We had to wait around 40 minutes last July when sailing on Britannia. We're weren't at all impressed with CPS - hope you have a better experience!
groovechick Posted June 24, 2016 #8 Share Posted June 24, 2016 Aurora sailing - waved right in to the stopping point from driving through the port gates, cases out the car, keys handed over - about 5 minutes. As it was our first sailing from Southampton with P&O we were a bit shell-shocked. Azura sailing following year - queued in holding lanes for about 40 mins and handover seemed slower, so about an hour in total. Of course that was before the new embarkation procedures, but I think there's no telling...
chris11256 Posted June 24, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted June 24, 2016 Hoping the delays on Monday aren't quite that bad! I suppose it depends on how bad local traffic is and such.
whoops Posted June 26, 2016 #10 Share Posted June 26, 2016 I had a 2 hour wait last May. I turned up early after an overnight stay and, as it was raining heavily outside, decided against walking around Southampton. I'm intending to turn up closer to my 3pm slot for my next cruise on 3 July.
