lyndamr, from your posts that I've seen on here, I think that you're overly worrying about this. There is masses to do on the Breakaway.

Having seen your lists of questions, I would really recommend that you relax about it, and enjoy the cruise. You will have a great time.

I cannot find a single thing to do or see in Bermuda at night, does anybody have any suggestions, we do love listening to music at night.

We were always afraid to sail to Bermuda because we are not beach people, and were also afraid of the down time when the casino is closed, but recieving a free cruise from Harrahs, we figured we would try the new ship and go to Bermuda. So, I have tried to research some things to do.. remember we never did these oursleves...

Wednesday nights in Hamiliton (just a ferry ride away) they close the streets to traffic, set up three stages, and it is suppossed to be one big party, with bars set up around and shops opened.

Thursday nights at Dockside there is a John Lennon tribute

There is also something on Monday nights but I didn't look into it...as we won't be there.

Hope this helps... there is alot of good info here

Safe sailing

Meltingmoments hahahaha yeah best to be on any ship and any port than nothing so true. I live with fibromyalgia, anoloking spondolosis and I know what pain is so sorry you having joint problems, what type of treatment you getting? I do hope it helps but never heard of joint treatments do you have RA?

I do indeed have RA and I will only be an out-patient on the day you set sail! I will be having Gold injections and they DO help. :)

Joint pain of any kind is never easy, but having something to look forward to always helps!

Enjoy your cruise......come back and let us know how you found it!

Bermuda IS a beautiful place.....I did a land-based holiday there many years ago.....loved it!! :)

lyndamr - be sure to seek out Howl at the Moon on Breakaway. It's a dueling piano set and it's SO fun. Music is great - they take requests and aren't shy about asking for money to do so - the more creative the better. It's a great way to sit and listen to live music at night.

Enjoy!

Youngestof9 so glad you mentioned that we didn't know much about it and didn't think of going but yes, surely will add on my list of things to do, Im so glad I posted this because you all given me some wonderful ideas, thank you.

Meltingmoments- I figured you had RA so sorry. Just to let you know people like us who live with pains daily (I also have lupus) I like to think we have strong minds, nothing brings us down we just deal and cope and do our best. Ok, gold salts! I heard of that, but I thought you had to get weekly treatments for like 6 months or so.... but maybe you have done it this way and you need your update treatment? I have heard of it reducing inflammation and slowing down the disease and so glad to hear it is helping you! :)

I definitely will be writing up a very lenghtly review for you all when I get back and thank you to all for your helping me with the suggestions! :p

Correct they said as long as there no storms or high winds she can be docked. Im sorry do you think that we would do that here in the USA dock our ships at a pier that is not finished and if its not completed wouldn't you say there could be a risk of something happening? Its just something that has been on my mind.

I just came back from the May 12th voyage. There is nothing wrong with the dock. I got on and off the ship two or three times a day with no problem. Do YOU think that NCL would risk their brand new ship on a risky dock? All the damn casino does is give you second hand smoke and steal your money. The only reason they comp someone is because they've lost plenty and they want them to lose more. Their are shows every night that run to midnight and beyond. It's only 2 nights by the way, the casino and shops reopen once the ship gets out of Bermuda waters. They were open by 7 PM on my voyage. Please excuse my frustration. I have post cruise disorder. I hope you have a wonderful time! :)

Bobg529 hello. To us the casino is a type of entertainment something we do not do normally at home. Anything we do such as go to a movie, go out for dinner, go to a concert, etc cost money so spending money in the casino is just the typical norm for us. Honestly, the past two carnival cruises the Dream in October my other half came home with additional 1247 and I $378 and we just got off the Fascination he came home with additional 1962 and I lost just 100. We just play slots and I not know how he finds these machines but he is something! I hope the same goes for NCL but whatever the case, we go with the money and figure we will loose it, but we love playing the slots.

Our past cruises just get boring when your in dock this is why we were worried that we be bored, but after other posters explained there are things to do and the ship doesn't get "dead" we are very happy to hear that and excited for this cruise.

I understand the post cruise thing...and thank you for your good wishes. We just got off the Carnival Fascination two weeks ago and know that this Breakaway is going to be amazing in every way. If you can fit in a piece of luggage your welcome to come along. :D

That is why, when I researched a Bermuda cruise, decided againist it, since you are in port for three days and no casino.

If my math is correct, if you were to breakdown the casino sessions into day and night, a 7 day Bermuda cruise has 8 sessions because the casino reopens at night on Bermuda departure day. A 7 day Caribbean cruise with 3 port days and 3 sea days has 10 sessions, and 11 if GSC is one of the ports as the casino is allowed to stay open at this port.

No one likes to gamble more that me, but I find 8 available gamblings sessions plenty for me during a cruise, and I guess CAS must think the same as tons of people have received cabin comps for this cruise including myself.

And I'm not sure why the OP thinks there is nothing to do on the ship. There are two shows a night on every night except the first, all the clubs are open, the only thing that is any different is, no casino and no duty free. Maybe a Bermuda cruise is not for you?

All of the other cruise lines have the same issue and sometimes they have to tender on top of it.

The pier is done and is being used, what safety issue have you heard of? Some ports are not usable if there are severe storms.

Along with the shipboard activities, there are many venues ashore if your looking for things to do.

Ok, so Bermuda refuses NCL to keep its casino open, casino means gambling for money.....NCL uses tickets, how come they can't keep the casino open (slots only), not have any cashiers distributing money...the machines do not give you back money but paper tickets, which is not gambling....why can't the casino remain open and just use paper tickets, that's legally not considered gambling because there is no money distribution. Maybe something that NCL needs to look into?

Lyndamr, Yes you should write to NCL and complain about this. How dare they follow local laws. BASTARDS!

Actually that WOULD be gambling depending on local laws.

Take a look at this http://business.time.com/2013/05/14/chuck-e-cheese-where-a-kid-can-gamble-like-an-adult/

Exactly what you describe has just been made illegal in Florida. There isn't any money distribution at a place like Chuck E Cheese or Dave & Busters, but it can still be considered gambling.

Honestly, if you can't live without gambling on vacation, then Bermuda or Hawaii isn't for you. That is kinda like going to anywhere but Atlantic City or Las Vegas years age and complaining you can't gamble... laws just didn't allow it.

Bermuda doesn't even allow LOTTERY tickets because it is considered gambling. Why would they change it for a cruise ship? They have all been in talks for years, if the cruise lines weren't making enough off Bermuda cruises, they wouldn't still be going there.

That's just the thing there isn't much to do at night. We love to listen to a live rock n roll band there is none from what others told me....there are only certain nights that shows are shown am I correct? What is there to do at night on the ship?

Bermuda is boring at night nothing to do can anybody suggest anything with music or some type of entertainment that is offered there nightly?.

There is nothing to do??? You are traveling with a group of 7 or 8 people if I recall...were you planning on spending every night sitting at a slot machine or with your friends and family? We just returned and were not bored for one minute. You might also consider spending that casino money on a sunset cruise (they offer more than one to choose from). You learn a lot about Bermuda, spend time on the water, and see a beautiful sunset.

Honestly, we haven't been on NCL in years. We just didn't know what to expect never sat in port for two and half days but after hearing what others suggested and told us there will be things going on in the ship even docked in port we now know everything is fine. Sunset cruise, I have to look into that sounds real nice thanks!!!

If you are desperate to play a casino game, just load some apps on your iPad and have fun there. Play some Zynga poker or something. At least that's what a tech junkie like me or my wife would do. Otherwise just have fun and enjoy your trip, or plan a Vegas or Macau trip next time if you are really into gambling.

For me personally, I do not like to gamble much on a cruise ship, even though my wife and I are pretty serious poker players and love to gamble. The one exception was on our last cruise we did a Texas Hold Em tournament (we both made it to the final table after a couple of days). Personally I try to enjoy the ship, the destination and the people I am sailing with as much as I can on a cruise. If I am in the mood to gamble, I will just set up dedicated trips to Vegas, Macau (I like staying at the Venetian there) and Singapore (the Marina Bay Sands is fantastic) - and just spend several days of doing nothing but gambling.

LOL funny you should say that because my other half said ipad has games but we now know since its been years we last been on NCL that NCL has the finest entertainment and it will be available to us in port.

Its not that he didn't have his fun we got back from Vegas in April, we just got off a ship less than two weeks ago and going on June 9th on the Breakaway, then in Oct have another Vegas trip so your right who needs the casino!!! I want shows, I want to listen to music and I want the good food with family. :D

The dock was completed enough for the ship to dock there successfully last week and this week. There shouldn't be any issues, nor the need for NCL to "negotiate" a waiver of gambling law. If it wasn't safe, they wouldn't be docking there.

Sounds like you need to try a different ship and itinerary.

This. +1

Has it ever occurred to you to get out of the Dockyard area (the most boring part of Bermuda) and go to where people actually live? Hamilton? St. George? Lots of stuff goes on at night there.
