I don't agree with this. You can encounter rough seas anywhere at any time. There's more to it than just the wave heights. The highest I've seen were on my first cruise, which was a Western Caribbean in mid-April on a 45,000 gross ton ship. We had 14' seas for days with all the outdoor decks closed off because of the wind. Salt spray over everything on evey level.

We had smooth sailing in late November to Hawaii and smooth sailing last October to Bermuda. You just never know.

There are many threads regarding sea sickness. And you can always just Google it.

First, if you aren't prone to motion sickness (car, air, carnival rides), you are probably worrying about nothing. Unless, of course, you encounter 29 ft waves. You probably won't.

Lower decks, midship are the best locations if you ARE prone to motion sickness. The higher the deck and the farther forward or aft, the motion.

Dramamine used to knock me out. Now that I switched to Bonine (and the generic meclizine), I'm not so sleepy. Note that they are labeled as "less" drowsy. Different people are affected differently.

Then I added Ginger Root capsules and have really had no issues at all since then. I start them 2 days early, 1 am and 1 pm. I take 1/2 meclizine when I board and the next morning, since it's usually a sea day. If I'm not having any problems, I drop the meclizine and just continue the Ginger Root.

who told you there were no midship oceanviews available?

I see tons.

How many in your party?

R191

R189

I would take either of these.

When I first booked there was none available, and my TA stated she will keep checking for me. I went back and ask my TA about the midship and I was switch from Aft to midship.

It's only two of us going on the cruise

Thanks for letting me know there was some available.

Just returned from the Triumph, room 8391, below the Lido desk. I have no idea why but after midnight there were lot's of noise, sounded like chairs dragging and lots of banging. It's actually carpet right above the room. Maybe coming from the aft pool deck. We booked one of the specials senior deals and Carnival selected our room for us. Now I understand why that one was available.

wonder if they were cleaning the carpet-- was it every night or only once?

that is also where they have an ice cream machine.

I'm a first time cruiser and of course found these boards after I booked my cruise. I'm in 1111 on the Legend. I'm pretty sure it's in a bad spot but anyone have any further info?

there are two Legends- Carnival Legend and Royal Caribbean Legend of the Seas.

since i dont see a 1111 on Legend of the seas I will take it for granted you are sailing Crnivl Legend.

1111 is a 1A cabin. Its the cheapest cabin on the entire ship.

Its an inside cabin and features one bed and an upper bed.

it is located all the way forward.

On this class ship the Riveria deck is the only deck that has the 1a cabins.

Is there only you sailing solo?

How much more is it to upgrade to a regular inside cabin.

If you are sailing in a 1a-- why not one of those on the aft?

1249

where you are now is a long walk to food/pools every day sometimes twice a day.

being close to the aft (back) elevators/stairs will be more convenient.

the only thing you are close enough to is the show lounge which is only used for a show at night time--

On spirit class ships the 1a cabins are identical to all the other inside cabins. They have two beds on the floor.

Yes, I've read that the 1As on Sprit-class ships (if you can grab one) are a great value. Will certainly try for one next time, especially if I'm solo. I'd rather be aft than forward, personally.

I had an aft balcony on Miracle and although there was quite a lot of "shudder" back there, I really enjoyed it. The MDR is aft on decks 2 & 3, so an aft location is very convenient in that regard as well.

Thank you for your replies! I'm going with my sister and when we booked she thought that one looked good. We certainly don't mind trekking to the pool and such, as we expected it since we booked a cheap cabin. I think now there are only balcony rooms available and we doubt we'll be in the room that often to justify shelling out the extra money. Thank you again!

Keep your finger crossed that we get a good room-----we couldn't pass up the good price for a 14 day Guar Balcony. Hopefully its not bunk beds  we couldn't do the climb we would just have to sleep on the floor

Miracle cabin 6348 (8A balcony) is above the casino.....You could hear the slot machines all the time!

I'm not sure the slots would be an issue. There is a small stage and there is music at times, but that is in the center of the casino and not port or starboard, so that may not be an issue, either. I don't recall how late the music went.

Miracle 4141 and Paradise U176: Any obvious problems with these that I may not be aware of?

4141 has the French Doors. If I don't do a 1A next time on a Spirit-class, I may go for one of these. Doors open but there's no balcony because the lifeboats are right in front of you. Seems like a great deal. Should be over the outside promenade deck, so shouldn't be any noise floating up.

On Paradise, I've never been that far to the stern on a Fantasy-class ship; I've either been midship or forward. Between passenger decks, so shouldn't be noisy. And the farther forward or aft, the less foot traffic in the hallways. Convenient to the Serenity Deck, then on up another deck to the Lido buffet.

Sounds good. I know I talked to my PVP to try and get one of those french door cabins that's in between 2 lifeboats so we can have a bit of a better view. I've never stayed in the aft section of a ship before either, but it seemed it was close enough to mid that it should be fine and we've never stayed on the upper deck before, only main and riviera on fantasy ships. Thank you for taking the time to respond! I hadn't thought, nor noticed that it would be a convenient location for Serenity and Lido areas, that's definitely a plus!

Does anyone have info on cabin 9249 on the Triumph? It's my first balcony and I want it to good (or at least decent). Thanks. :D

We've been on the Triumph Lido deck twice. It's wonderful. Good size rooms, not noisy, convenient to everything. You will really like it!

Thanks gwinel. I can't wait for Nov, and now I feel better knowing I didn't pick a horrible cabin! :)

  • 1 month later...

Hello all!

I've just consulted the website: www.deckplangenius.com to find out if there are any problems with the 2 cabins that I have booked on Voyager of the Seas.

Thankfully, both have been given a good review!

Just thought I'd share this website with you all who are also wondering about your cabin selections.

Happy cruising! :D
