Mash on the Seaside Theatre??

Am I the only one that hates what they play on the bigscreen? I desparately just wanted good music to create a vacation vibe by the pool. The last thing I wanted to see was a quirky old war sitcom....

I can't say that I've ever hated some of the movie choices. If I'm not interested, there are plenty of other things to do. We don't cruise for the movies. I don't know what your music preferences are, but there is music by the pool on those evenings when a deck party is planned. While not by the pool, there are other places on the ship where you can find live music in the evening. In the Atrium, in one of the lounges, or near the casino. Just check the listings in the Fun Times, or go look around.;)

M*A*S*H is a classic, and a humorous one at that! I certainly wouldn't mind seeing it while catching some rays. Of course, that's just my opinion, and I can certainly understand why one might just want to listen to some music. Well, iPods were invented for that too!

It probably depends on the ship, but typically the Seaside Theater doesn't have movies during the day. However, a movie, even an older one such as "M.A.S.H.", would be preferable to CNN or some other news cast. I've often thought that, because of families with children, why not have some cartoons on now and then, such as Bugs Bunny, Pink Panther, etc.?

I think it is a silly idea. However, I also think it is impossible to please all passengers on board. We were in port with the Conquest this past week and they were playing I Love Lucy rerums all morning. Carnival seems to be having trouble finding the right programming for the Theatre. They've tried music videos, then concerts, then national news, and now TV Sitcoms. I would prefer they just show the aquatic screensaver or Carnival fleet video and play a mix of island music.

While on the Freedom, TV Sitcoms were listed in the Funtimes from 7am-9am, but they never actually showed them on the Theatre.

Literally, we avoid the main pool area all week long during the day because of the Seaside Theater. I think it's fine to watch a scheduled movie at night, but not to force Miley Cyrus, 50 Cent, and Justin Bieber videos on unsuspecting cruisers that just want to relax by the pool during the day.

I agree that Carnival could do a lot better on the big screen. The only thing I've seen on their big screen that I enjoyed was when they played a Kenny Chesney concert on New Year's on Sunshine. That was awesome with all of his beachy-themed songs!

I'd love to see more vacation vibe music on the big screen too.

Wouldn't anyone else besides me like to see some cartoons on the big screen? Or am I a majority of one? Not all day, maybe just for an hour or two in the morning. Looney Tunes, like Bugs Bunny, Road Runner, Daffy Duck, Sylvester & Tweety Bird. Maybe some Pink Panther, or Woody Woodpecker. Popeye the Sailor Man.:D

There are things they show on the big screen that I like and things I don't like. If I find it intolerable, I just find somewhere else on the ship to be. People, the ships are big, you are not bound to one place. Try somewhere new, you may find you like it. Most ships have at least 2 pool areas and multiple areas with outside loungers. I have never found that I was "forced" to endure anything in any public area on any ship that I did not want to.

Recently on "Dream", and during the day they very often played old T.V. sitcoms, that I found VERY entertaining, and Far, Far preferable to some of the "music?" videos that are popular. They had things like MASH, The Jackie Gleason Show, and others that really brought back memories, and reminded me of how much better T.V. used to be! ;)

Frankly, I'm not a big fan of the Seaside Theater, but for daytime entertainment, these old sitcoms sure beat hell out of the BLARING Hip-Hop and Rap that some of the other ships insist on playing by the main pool in the daytime.

We have kids. It is the only area to lounge outside (why we cruise) that we were allowed.

Ive been on ships with and without on Legend I sure wished they had one. Whats the differnce in load music or movie screen I dont think you have to look at screen if you are not intrested. Really enjoyed big screen on Breeze especially at night.

On which ship?-- So we know to avoid it, since we never hang out at the main pool. The back pool of the Victory is no longer adults-only, after the addition of the Serenity deck, and I assumed all the ships made the same kind of transition, except the small Fantasy class ships that put the Serenity at the back (and don't have movie screens).

I feel sorry for those choosing the screen entertainment because I'm sure they can't please everyone, but we wish they had more family-friendly fare and not just at our 6 p.m. dinner hour (start them at 7 or 7:30 p.m.!!), and otherwise be turned off during the daytime, when most people would rather hear cruise music.

I really enjoyed the theater particularly in the evening for a movie. I also don't mind a nice dose of the news early in the morning which I have found typical. A few times I did find that the volume was wayyy to loud and very annoying when trying to have a conversation with someone next to you.

I enjoyed most of the music, movies or other entertainment that was shown on the screens, but didn't make it apart of my day on purpose. It was just by chance that I went up on deck to meet someone, or to relax, and take notice of what was playing, and decided to stay awhile and enjoy. The popcorn is also a plus, especially when enjoyed with an adult beverage.

Are you saying you don't like the theater? Or are you saying you don't like what's being played on the screen?

Mash would be a thousand times better than a Celine Dion concert.

HAHAHAHA. We actually suffered through a Celine Dion concert on the Dream. Would have loved to see M*A*S*H instead.
