Live from Freedom of the Seas

Having a ball on this cruise. Ship is great as are staff. Food is great in MDR, been to two ports so far, Labadee and Falmouth. Loved them both.

Very family oriented cruise, which I expected in middle of August but all kids seem well behaved and to be enjoying themselves. We have a 12 year old boy and 16 year old girl and they are struggling a little in the evenings with not as much to do but they had a week in Orlando prior to the cruise so they can handle it!

IMO the good is better than my cruise on Celebrity Infinity in June, particularly desserts. I never ate a dessert on the Infinity even though I love a pudding there was rarely anything I fancied - not do here, all courses have been fabulous. I know it's not codon bleu but the standard when feeding over 3000 people is very high.

Very happy with RCI.

If I can answer any questions, I'd be glad to.

Cheers

Pat

Happy to hear you rave about Freedom over Celebrity. I have never been on Celebrity but everyone always says its a step up in food and everything else. I will be on Freedom in Sept and cannot wait. Enjoy every moment!!

So sorry iPad was charging!

The ship does feel crowded especially in the windjammer and the promenade and if course sea days around the pool! Cabins are fine, we went for insides and they are more than adequate. I rarely book insides these days but forgot how well you sleep in them !

Kids are enjoying everything but struggling from 10 pm for things to do.

They have not joined the teen clubs they went the first night and just felt it wasn't for them.

Internet is $20 per day. I bought a week which as Diamond I got $40 off so cost me $100..

Cruise Director is Jamie Fentiman.

RCI isn't better than Celebrity just different but food on this ship has been fantastic.

Enjoy your cruises.

Glad you are enjoying Florida with Disney and a cruise. We had a small family reunion on Freedom last February and enjoyed the same ports.

We still prefer Celebrity when it is just the 2 of us. RC has more to offer younger folks.

Does the ship feel crowded to you? I'm just wondering how it is since they added the new cabins.

I didn't feel it, though my trips on Freedom were 7 years apart. Tendering in Grand Caymen wasn't bad at all, that would have been the place. We did schedule the cupcake class right during the Dreamworks parade, that was crowded, but I guess that would have been my fault if I had been bothered by it, but I went with it.

How formally dressed were the passengers?

I do not remember seeing the majority of the men in tuxes and that was the answer to a question on our roll call. Thanks

Not formal really, dress went from the sublime to the ridiculous! Really think they should abandon formal nights on Caribbean cruises or at least just have one.

Dorisis that's exactly how I feel. This s very vibrant cruise, very noisy around the pool for example but it's not really an issue just know f I was on my own I would prefer the relaxed and quiet vibe on Celebrity.

We are flying down and boarding her on Sunday as you depart.

We have cruised her several times and always enjoy it. Surprisingly, I usually say that the desserts are the one area that RC lacks.

I'll have my 13 and 17.5 year old sons, as well as three teen friends of my older one (all at least 17, with one turning 18 next month). Mine have not been part of the kids club for years, and they find things to do on their own. Hopefully with these three newbies, they will find new things they have not thought about.

Hi Pat,

Sounds like your having a good time. I'm going with just my husband in 4 weeks and wondered about the adult only pool does it get really packed?

Have you used the Windjammer if so what did you think of the food.

We are also from Harrogate.

Janet, have a fabulous cruise.

Tigerwilf, small world! I haven't been to the adults only pool so can't say sorry. Windjammer, we have only eaten breakfast there (always too late for the dining room!) lots of breakfast choices, decent coffee but does get very crowded.

Have a great cruise.

Will post a full review when I get home.

My old cruise buddie put me off the Western Caribbean as she didn't rate the ports but we have thoroughly enjoyed every single port.

Booked a cabana on Labadee and enjoyed the beach. Falmouth we booked a trip to Red Stripe beach and had a great day(if you go here make sure you get a massage only $30 for half an hour and a great masseuse). Grand Cayman another cabana at Royal Palms, great service, good food (the coconut shrimp are awesome). Final port today was Cozumel where we had booked all inclusive at Mr Sanchos beach club (cabana again!) great service here. Lovely pools, good food and drinks. A lovely place to enjoy the beach.

Couldn't fault any of the ports, loved them. Sea day tomorrow and my DB and myself have both won a seat at the poker final to win a cruise do wish us luck!

Casinostreer, apparently the cruise director left today. Don't know who the new one is.

At Orlando airport now ready for home. Had a great last day, too an airboat ride with Midway, saw alligators, herons and egrets. Great trip, highly recommended.

That's a shame. We just got that one trained last year. I hate breaking in a new casino host! :-)

Glad you had a great trip!

We had a blast! Love RCI. We actually won the free cruise at bingo on the last day. We are having a kid, so we are kind of worried that with all the restrictions and the fact that you have to use it within a year, we might lose it. Anyone have any experience with this?

From OUR experience, RCL was pretty good about flexibility with this sort of thing. Explain the situation and see what happens. They let us postpone our cruise for over a year because of a child. :-)

Was yours a paid cruise? Ours is a voucher for a free cruise that we won. I would assume they would be a little more strict on the free ones.
