Upgrade sale call! Good deal?

Initially booked riviera interior. Price drops happened so we moved to a riviera porthole room. Cruise leaves in 10 days on Inspiration. Today I got the call to move from porthole on Riviera to Verandah junior suite (obstructed) for $175 more total? Worth it for more room, balcony, and nicer location?

I did accept it for a surprise for my DW's birthday. Not a horrible deal I don't think as this cabin still books for $659 dollars more than my total price paid thus far. Any comments good or bad? What to expect?

Looking forward to priority boarding though :-)

My cell phone had unknown number and voicemail as I was at work. With a phone number and extension to call back. Also received email at same time from same woman. So I called back and voilá. So excited

It's a good deal - however, the balconies on the Inspiration have very little privacy. But for the extra room and coffee on the balcony in the morning is worth it. What's the obstruction? IIRC, there's outside stairways that people can walk by the balconies, that's where you don't get any privacy.

do you have your stateroom #? check out cruiselinerooms and see if its listed. chances are there are photos posted to show what the obstruction is. also do a forum search for your CABIN # on here

I think you mad a great deal. This will be a great surprise. I upgraded from a 4j to a balcony surprise for dh. Have a great time.

for what you paid I would have jumped on it. But for what Carnival asks online I would pass every time. Its the same size as an ocean view with a 3 foot deep balcony and the same bathroom as an OV. Not having a better bathroom is probably more disappointing to me than the small balcony.

If he has the cabin number, can't he check what the same category cabins are available and if one is in a better location, change to it? Thought I had read that. Since I'm in a 4J there will be no upgrade for me.

I booked direct through the Carnival website. Made my first change to a porthole via e-mail thru Carnival. And the phone call came from a Carnival Sales Room Specialist!

I also book direct online, and last cruise was offered upgrade from an inside to on lido deck to a balcony on lido deck for 100 dollars total... i jumped on that deal!

I haven't been on the Inspiration in years... but it used to be my favorite ship... sailed on it on her inaugeral year and two more times afterwards!

i have been on several cruises and all but one i called to book. the only one that i booked online was the only one that i received a call for an up sell. i declined, but now i wonder if booking online somehow puts you higher on the list or puts you on a different list for them to call to try to up sell you.
