Gauranteed Cabin

Hello all,

Has anyone ever taken a chance and booked a guaranteed cabin on Norwegian? I found a great rate on an inside and an oceanview cabin for a quick 3 day get away on Halloween and was curious what your experiences were.

Any input, good and bad greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I've done several cruises on NCL. I tend to book at the last minute...after the final payment date, and that usually requires taking a "guarantee." I've always been happy with the cabins I was assigned, but I recognize that results might not always be favorable.

I also usually book close to the sailing date from 30 to 45 days out and have booked guarantees on NCL and other lines have always been satisfied with the cabin that I got. The only time I was disappointed was one time I had booked an obstructed ocean view and they upgraded me to an an ocean view, that unfortunately was just above the showroom so the room was fairly noisy in the afternoon when they were practicing for the shows and in the evenings when the shows were going on. Otherwise my experience with guarantees has been good.

On one of my early cruises on a Carnival ship, I booked a guaranteed inside for the price. I wound up with a cabin on the verandah deck aft, which is usually where I want to be when I'm cruising solo anyway. One flight up to Lido, 3 flights down to the Casino, and a few more steps down to MDR dining. Guess I was lucky. Could have been put down on the lowest deck forward, that's the chance I took.

I booked a gty inside of a certain grade which was mid ships on NCL Epic but I got "upgraded" to a room that was forward, beneath the main buffet and right next to a pantry.Tried to get it changed but with no luck.Room was very noisy especially around 3am when the staff in the pantry started cleaning the surfaces or something.

I have done several guarantees and most have been disappointing but they have been cheap so that's the benefit of a gty. I would prefer to choose my cabin but I usually book last minute and often they only have guarantee left.

I am really fussy about where my cabin is but if you are not so bothered then a GTY is great value.:)

I've done one Guaranteed inside cabin on Carnival, it turned out well. Ended up at very back of ship..last cabin and lowest deck. The room was great, and bigger than the 1As I usually book and it cost less. Its just a roll of the dice.

  • 4 weeks later...

I've booked guarantee interior rooms twice (once on RCCL and once on CCL). Got upgraded both times: to a promenade and to the highest category of interior rooms (forget what it's called but it had a French door/window). Since I don't spend a lot of time in my room, I always go for the cheapest option.
