Default Flying into Fort Lauderdale but need to get to Miami

Hi
We are flying into Fort Lauderdale.
Any suggestions on how to get to Miami? Taxi, shuttle?
Any information would be great.
2 adults and 1 child.
Thanks!

We are doing the same--we are renting a car at FLL and returning it the next day to MIA and taking the free rental car company shuttle to POM. I got the car for less that $40 on hotwire.com if that helps.

I've always used SAS transportation. $15 per person. Others here use Quality Limo Service.

This question is asked and answered EVERY day on the FLA departure board: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=495

Which hotel are you staying at in FLL? SAS and others have restrictions or company policy about which hotels they will pick up at? Your little one will be safer and more comfortable if you bring your own car seat.

- A one way rental car from is likely the cheapest way to get there - National, Alamo and Thrifty offer free POM shuttles from their MIA airport location.
- A taxi will run $85+
- QLS transportation (www.qualitylimoservice.com ), SAS (www.ridesas.com) and Go Airport Shuttle (http://goairportshuttle.com/) are FLL based shuttle services with prices starting at $15+ per person.
- Larry's Limos has been suggested on these boards for Miami service - probably comparable to taxi fares, but hopefully a much nicer ride.

Good luck!

SAS is great. They are restricted from doing Miami to Miami shuttle service, so you cannot have them pick you up at a Miami hotel and take you to the port of Miami or vice versa.

There shoul be no problem picking you up at FLL and taking you to the port of Miami or a hotel in the "immediate" Miami area.

I heard there is a train that will take you from one airport to the other. Has anyone heard that?

There is a light rail set up -- you need to ride a free shuttle from FLL to the train and do the same at the other end to get to MIA (unless the construction is completed). It does not run very often and is not luggage friendly, but is cheap! Good luck!

Are you talking about Tri Rail? I was under the assumption that there the train runs right out of the airports? Am I mistaken? Thanks for your help.

Lots of construction the last time I looked at Tri-Rail, so things may have changed/improved. Here is a link that may provide more up to date info: http://www.tri-rail.com/

Thanks for the infor. I called them and by the time we take the free shuttle from the airport and go on the train and then take a cab to port it probablly will be more money than booking a straight shuttle for $15.00 per person and alot less hassles. I have 3 companies that do the $15.00 shuttle. Anyone taken any of these shuttles? How far in advance do you have to book? Thanks.

No reason to delay - book as soon as you buy your flight tickets. Good luck!

I've been a fan of SAS shuttles for years, but our trip last week was terrible. They were late picking us up, and when we got on the 45 passenger bus, we were asked if we knew where "Extended Stay America" was.

I said no, since we live in Colorado. We drove in circles, looking for it, until other passengers googled it on cell phones, and directed the local driver.

Took forever, and delivered to 3 ships. Had to totally empty the trailer to find luggage. We were chastised for not having the ship tags on our luggage yet, even though they tore off (accidentally?) other paper tags in adjusting bag placement.

We will never use them again!
