Can you walk from Harrah's to port?

I can walk all over the french qtr so to me its walkable. the main difficulty is getting in back of the convention center. I would pull up a map of the hotel's location to see it myself. The convention center is the building right in front of the port, so you have to find a way to get behind it, which I seem to get stuck going upstairs and then down stairs at the ship which means lugging luggage down the flight of stairs right at the port.

You could walk, I wouldn't. You do have to cross major streets. It is difficult to get around the convention center and you probably will walk in a area that is closed to foot traffic. Some do it, I would not. The terminal is Erata. A cab is only a few bucks and will drop you off right at baggage check. $5-10.

From Harrah's Casino it's several blocks to walk to the Julia Street Cruise Terminal. With luggage it's doable if you're in fairly good shape but remember - it's pretty warm in N'awlins & hustling bags that far will be no fun, especially when you get back from the cruise. Just some points to ponder. Enjoy the cruise!

Have you ever stayed at the NOLA Harrahs? It's a gorgeous hotel. We have stayed there (not cruise related, got free gambling nights). LOVED it. It is not connected to the casino so it's not your usual smoky mess of a hotel. Really lovely.

thanks for the information. We decided we will have to drive/park at the cruise terminal. First confirmation from Harrah's showed free parking for duration of cruise if we stayed the night before leaving and night upon returning from crusie, then received a second email discounting that saying only free parking the nights we actually stay at the hotel. Cruise terminal parking $16 per night and Harrah's is around $30? So we will park at terminal and not stay at Harrah's the night after we return from cruise.

Sundiego, we haven't stayed there, but have stayed at several Harrah's properties and have bever been disappointed.

Let me help you to feel better about staying at Harrah's in New Orleans. I stay there all the time and I have a free parking card, because I am such a regular there. LOL ;):D It is a very nice hotel and it is super clean. I have stayed in regular rooms and I have stayed in the suites as well. Both are very nice. You will be happy here ! The front desk is very friendly and if you need anything, they will try their hardest to get it for you. You will not be disappointed ! They do have coffee makers in the bathrooms with coffee supplied. They also have a HUGE glass shower and a bathtub as well. If you want to go to the french market , there is a trolley right across the street that you can take. I think you get off at # 1 stop, but I'm not sure. They have one going left and one going right. Facing it, you will want the one going left. Once you are at the french market stop, get off and cross the street, it will be to the left. You can walk and shop from here. You can walk back to Harrah's or take the trolley back. Ok, I hope I helped you to feel better about the hotel. Don't miss Cafe du' Monde ! It has the best beignets and coffee here. It's well known, so I'm sure you have heard of it before. Also, across the street from Harrah's is the Riverwalk, where they also have a Cafe du'Monde and lots of shopping. The aquarium and I-Max for kids is also in walking distance. They have a Children's Museum, if you have kids and come in early looking for something to do with them. Ok well I hope I helped a little.
