Default Voyager dwarfs Crystal Symphony in Auckland 18 Dec

Crystal Symphony and Voyager of the Seas are in Auckland today 18 Dec.
The Crystal ship looks lovely and is quite a reasonable size, but next to Voyager......

Symphony is only around 51000 tonnes (nice size actually for some Mediterranean cruising!! ---- while Voyager is around 138,000 tonnes.

I might be a bit annoyed if I had paid for a harbour view room at the Hotel next to Voyager (is it the Hilton?)

Its the Hilton at one end , and apartments at the other.
I am told that all residents and Hotel guests , get a schedule of cruise ship calls for the following 2 reasons;

1. To be sure they are wearing something when they throw the drapes open in the morning.
2. To remove valuable items from shelves as the vibrations from the ships thrusters tend to make things fall off .

Yes I recollect pulling in to Auckland on Regal Princess in 2007, very close to those apartments, some sights to be seen each way, if you know what I mean, in ye early morn. LOL.

I've booked there at the end of our cruise. But I booked a internal looking room as I knew there would be a ship tied up (my ship in fact...for 1 night) so wasn't going to waste me money on a view of a balcony.

However, like those whiners that moan when a freeway, thats been on a map for 30 years starts getting built next to their 5 year old house, research would show you that being on a cruise pier, that ships would tie up.

Thats just a wild guess in the dark tho you understand

Surely no one at the Hilton would be surprised that cruise ships dock right next door. The whole complex was designed to look like 2 docked ships.
