La Romana stop, Kandela show

Am wondering if anyone can give me info on arranging Kandela show on your own. The show itself is about half the price of what's charged by the cruise excursion, but of course, that's without transportation. Does anyone know how far the show site is from the ship? How easy it is to get taxis? I noticed on their website that the show starts at 9PM, so to see the show and get back to the ship in time for 11PM departure seems tight to me, but wondering how feasible it is. Frankly, I hate to give the cruise ship all that extra money if I can do it on my own. I would rather spend the money on drinks!
