Piers in Nassau & Freeport similar to Grand Cayman & Cozumel?

Hi we just came off of the Dream a few weeks ago & loved the fact that in Grand Cayman & Cozumel you had to have a sail & sign card to walk around in certain shopping areas.

What is it like in those 2 ports Freeport & Nassau as we are thinking of 5 day on the Sunshine or Paradise but leaning more towards the Sunshine this would be for next July.

thanks!

Yes in Grand Cayman we did a lot of shopping and in Cozumel we had lunch there and loved it as we did the sub excursion so not in Cozumel. We also went to Jamaica such a let down we should have paid extra for a better tour! Just wondering the other piers are like!

Unless they change their itinerary before you sail, "Paradise" only sails to Cozumel, and Grand Cayman, so you'll be in familiar ports. Don't know for sure where "Sunshine" will go on the short cruises, but I'd guess Nassau, and perhaps Freeport, or Carnivals private island. I don't think Nassau, or Freeport have the "tourist areas" for the ships passengers that you're talking about.

Neither Nassau nor Freeport have tourist shopping areas where you use your sail and sign card. In Nassau you are just a block from the main shopping street once you leave the enclosed dock area. There are a few nice shops on the street and of course the "straw market" with lots of touristy stuff. In Freeport there are only a few little shops at the dock and then you need to get a taxi to go "somewhere". I personally would suggest an excursion in Freeport because I wasn't impressed with that port.

In Freeport, unless you take a tour or go to a beach, there is a straw market next to the pier. In Nassau, there is a straw market inside the pier building, and then another larger one down the main street. In Nassau, they want to see your picture ID as well as Sail & Sign card when accessing the pier from town. EM

GREAT POINT about the picture ID AND sail and sign card to re-board. We almost didn't get back on because we left our picture ID on the ship.

what is Freeport like? thanks!

the place where they do the ship dry docks is right there, so if you're lucky you may get a sneak peak of a ship getting redone. to some, that's considered "dirty".

once you get off the ship, there is live music and many shops.

if you wanna hit up a beach or go to better shops, I suggest getting a cab, pretty cheap.

as long as you venture and do something, even if doing something ends up shopping right next to the ship, do it. don't make freeport a ship day, as there is a lot of fun to be had. the excursions are great, especially the reef tours. day passes at grand lucaya are worth it too.
