Receiving an incoming Email

My sister is leaving her severely disabled husband at home and is heading out for a needed one week cruise, RCL Legend of the Seas Mexican Riviera cruise. Anyone know the RCL policy on INCOMING emails or other means my homebound bother in law can use to contact his cruising wife should such communication become necessary? Can one make a satlelite phone call from mainland US to a cruise ship cabin???

Here's a link to the Royal Caribbean board here at Cruise Critic

You'll get the best answers if you ask on the specific boards your questions refer to.

Most cruiseships have very expensive 900 numbers that can be called from anywhere in the US to reach passengers at sea in their staterooms. That phone number should be in your sister's cruise documents.

For e-mail info, ask on the RCCL board for the most current info.

I think the most economical way would be to go to hotmail.com & setup a new email address before she leaves. She can just email either to/from the new email address & her husband can email her to the new email address. Then she can log onto the website on the ship & pickup her email from the hotmail website account. Hope this helps.

You have to pay a hefty fee for using e-mail on the ship. It's a one-time rate, and then a charge per minute. The contact information (phone) will be in her cruise documents, but the caller has to use a credit card before the call is placed through to her cabin, and then it's $7.50 a minute. A cell phone will not work abord the ship, but if she has a calling plan that works in Mexico, she could make and receive calls when the ship is in port.
