Noumea suggestions for foodies! Wine, cheese, pastries etc.

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I have also posted in the ports boards, hoping someone here might have some suggestions.

I've been to Noumea a few times, and looking to do something different this time. I know there's a few bars and restaurants near Lemon Bay.

Does anyone have any recommendations where we can maybe try some nice French wines perhaps, maybe a cheese platter, some pastries, baguettes?

Celebrity does have a tour on offer however when I looked at it quickly, I think it does also incorporate a city tour and just a small amount of cheese sampling.

Thanks for you help!

We had a lovely lunch at Le Mediterranee at the southern end of Lemon Bay just before Christmas. Great food - I had duck and DH had moules frites. It had a reasonable wine list - we had a half bottle of Provencial Rose with our lunch.

There was a creperie next door which had been recommended to us, however we didn't feel like crepes that day.

I am interested in any suggestion re cheese too, but I am a bt of a "Cheeseaholic".

Go across the road (from the cruise terminal) and pop into the Casino Supermarket. We pick up some amazing french cheeses, the like I haven't had since being in France (the smellier the better - towards the back of the supermarket) also a baguette and go and sit outside somewhere and indulge!!:D:D:D
