Default My Time Dining

My husband & I like Dining around 19:00 ish that's why we've opted for My Time in the past with Celebrity. The time slots offered on our upcoming cruise are 18:30 & 20:00 !!! These times are certainly not flexible - more Their Time Dining than My Time.
Looks like we won't be dining much in the MDR - & that's a shame.

RCI only book a limited amount of MTD pre cruise. Once onboard see the MTD desk and I am sure they will accomodate you at the times you require.

If we like the waiter and assistant on the first night, we always ask for the same table for the rest of the cruise and have always been accomodated.

We also prefer eating at 19:00 but book 18:30. By the time we're seated, get drinks, look over the menu and order, it's often after 19:00 making it perfect for getting to the shows at 21:00.

There is confusion about MTD. They call it that but then confuse you by offering reservation times. You can just go when you want and not reserve. We never had to wait for a table with MTD and NEVER made a reservation.

Yes MTD is between their hours. I'm guessing you will have a difficult time finding a food venue open at 5. Windjammer is usually closed for cleaning, and most other places offer lite snacks, or are pay for use venues.

We too eat early at home, but I have never felt like my schedule was thrown off by eating later. I also usually grab a snack between breakfast and dinner, something I never do at home.

Well that is the price you pay when you are working all night, you can't subtract 12 from 17 and get the correct time YAWN.....

MTD opens at 5:30 and goes until 9 or 9:30, can't remember. As long as you have added MTD to your booking, you do not have to make a reservation prior to boarding.

Check when you're on board. Yes, you are supposed to be able to show up each night and get in with little or no wait (according to some on CC). However, we tried to show up twice without reservations for MTD and did not get in - both nights we tried to be seated at six and were told the first opening was 7:45!!! We had Windjammer those night instead and made 6pm reservations for every other night. MTD is still your time if you are choosing your reservation time. Just because someone on another ship was able to show up and be seated right away on their sailing doesn't mean you will on your ship on your sailing. Check on board, give it a try, and then do what works for you. If that means making a reservation for MTD then so be it - at least you will be eating when and where you want.

We have never chosen My Time - always second seating. We did notice on our last cruise, and was confirmed by several people that we spoke with in the Diamond lounge, that reservations were required, otherwise you could not get in. There was a long line each evening of people "hoping to get in" - assume it depends on the ship, number of passengers wanting the same times, etc.

Reservations are requested, but not required.

We chose mtd on explorer and had no waiting. Our waiter said we were seated at an undesirable table but we loved it. We were seated right at the entrance to the mdr and against the railing overlooking the lower levels.

Your wait time will depend upon the type of seating location you want. If you are flexible, less wait time. Most window tables are for large parties so you would have to socialize if you want to be near the window and would probably have a longer wait for more in demand locations.
Also, at a certain point a woman came over to us and said she noticed we were dining at the same time each night and asked if we wanted to reserve that time for the rest of our trip. We politely declined. We later found out from our waiter that he had made the reservation for us behind our backs. He was a great waiter and we loved him and it didn't matter since we ended up eating at the same time each night out of habit.

RCI will go to great lengths to take the uncertainty out of MTD by pushing reservations. They can always be refused. Wait times will always vary but it pays to be flexible to expedite and your willingness to sit with strangers.

just walk in. The most misinformation is that you need a RESERVATION!! YOU DON'T!!! We never make reservations, just go down to eat when we feel like it. Rarely, if ever, do we have to wait. We still get the same waitstaff every night. That is the beauty of MTD

I have chosen MTD and booked a time online. Just wondering if I still have to queue with all the other people trying to get in at that time or do I jump queue and go straight up to the front since I've already booked my time?

Good to know. I did make reservations ahead but if we want to go earlier or later, or not at all, I won't feel bad. If we decide we are not going though, I would probably make an effort to cancel. I would think they prefer reservations to get an idea on table settings as well as food?

Obviously reservations are not required but may be needed on your sailing on your ship to ensure you eat at the time you like. I still consider it MTD even if I make a reservation because, after all, I still chose the time.

Management at RCCL must be wringing their hands waiting for the crash of MTDr's all showing up between 6:30-7:00. What everyone has posted here is very informative. It just may not have anything to do with your experience on your cruise.

Just wondering what MTD will look like over the next couple of years? It seems there is a growing number of very experienced cruisers posting about MTD or is it MTH My Time Hassle?

We have never had to wait either but we are always willing to be seated with others. If you ask for at able for two you may have a wait.
