Just booked the GCOV on freedom for 2-14/16 out of Galveston. 2 adults and 2 kids (10&7). Never cruised before. We were booked to go 2/2014 but never got to travel. For this trip I had originally booked NCL dawn in a family suite but was given a casino certificate for carnival. It was several thousand cheaper so I booked the FREEDOM. My kids are both competitive swimmers and live the water will the freedom keep them busy? What about my room choice? Also is there a reasonably priced way to get from the airport to the port?

Your going to love the room. We had it on the Freedom last year. It still had that new smell to it with the carpeting, etc. because they had only been added a couple of months prior. Plenty of room for 4 people. The kids will have to sleep on the pull out couch but it's very spacious. My two had plenty of room. The room steward will keep the bed down the entire time. It's easier for him/her, but if you prefer just ask for it to be put up during the day.

We had plenty of closet space and room for our suitcases. The little nook on the side of the bed by the window in the corner provides extra room for storage. It's just a fantastic room. Beautiful views and the thermostat works, so you can adjust it if the sunlight makes the room to warm. At night, you have to keep the shades closed if you have the lights on. A few times after we went to bed, we raised the shade. No words for the quiet panoramic view you get of the moonlight hitting the ocean!

Only down side to our stay was the shade on one of the windows was broken. I would think they have that fixed by now. I heard it was still broke just a few months ago. For that, the manager at guest services gave us some obc and a discount on our next cruise. I didn't even ask for it but my guess is that he did it automatically since apparently that shade had been broken since they built the cabin during the drydock last year.

If I can dig out my pics, I will post a few.

Thanks for the info. Any luck finding the pictures?

I also loved the 6K Grand Scenic Oceanview cabin so much that after sailing on the Valor, (pictures below) I booked it again on the Sunshine. We never felt much movement, which I thought we would. That was the coolest cabin I have ever been in. I only wish they had them on the Vista, but they do not. I am really spoiled now to all of that wonderful light and beautiful view. The fact that they are less expensive than balcony cabins is a really nice plus. :)

cruisinisthebest....I notice that there are 2 chairs in the Freedom cabin, and 2 tables instead of 1! Great addition. Does your little side window shade open? Ours did on the Sunshine, but not the Valor. We could slide the shade back on the Sunshine.

What is this cabin category? Which ships have these cabins ?

Grand scenic oceanview. Category 6K. There are only 2 on the ships that have them. And only 4 of the 6Js, which I posted a pic of below. 6Ks are about 320 sq. ft. The 6Js are 220 sq. ft.

Ships that have them: Valor, Glory, Conquest, Sunshine, Freedom

No INCHARGE, the corner shade didn't open.

Yes, that cabin was great. Two end tables, two coffee tables, 2 chairs, 3 closets, everything! Even the bathroom seemed a bit bigger to me. Our t.v. was mounted over the dresser. On some of the ships it's mounted between the windows.

I wanted this room for our Sunshine cruise this summer but they were both gone when we booked. :(

Kids can share the sofa bed. Or one can use the chiase chair (uncomfortable)

shades MUST be drawn close at night-- cabin steward will close them while you are at dinner. (Lights in the cabin will interfer with the bridge below you)

what we did was got ready for bed-- then turned the lights off then opened the shades.. but be warned when the sun comes up its super bright there.

if you google: Carnival 9200 you will get lots of hits

Great pictures! i am booked in room 9200 GCOV on the glory in may...I am so excited! it wasn't showing available online but when i called, they booked me in it. Only disadvantage to this room, it seems, is that when they have rate decreases you probably wont get a discount as there are only two rooms in this cat and are usually both booked.

Looks like the same area of my captian suite on the sunshine??. With the 2 large windows facing forward. Just the setup looks smaller. Figured all CS were the 9200 and 9202 rooms

on sunshine these two cabins will be 9126 and 9111 (i see both of these cabins hold 4 people on the sunshine

  • 1 year later...
We had this room on the Valor and have it booked on the Glory for next spring. For the money we feel it is the best room on the ship.

I've stayed in 9201 on the Valor and the Glory.

320sf for less than a balcony makes it even nicer.

The Splendor also has these rooms after drydock. I had a chance to try for the 9200, but the switch would have affected our teens' room across the hall. I will still be happy with the same size on another floor. 2473 - 6B.

Next time though!

We were able to snag this room (9200) for our October 2017 Halloween cruise on Glory. As with other posters, we had to book through our PVP since the room didn't show available on the website. Now we're just trying to figure out a way to monitor the price since we can't do a mock booking. We have an alert set on the fish site....not sure if it will report it.
