Malaga- Castle Gilbrafaro to the Alcazaba

We will be in Malaga for a day in May. We were wondering about taking a taxi or #35 bus to Castle Gilbrafaro and walking down from there to the Alcazaba. I'm not sure exactly how to do that as I have read that there are not connecting paths. Will there be clear signs for the Alcazaba? We would then like to go to the Roman theatre and Cathedral. If we start in the Cathedral and work our way up we are not sure about the walk to the castle being too steep. Knees are not the best! Maybe campolady or others could help us out with this!

Thanks,

Ann
