Tipping for free tours

Recommended Posts

I'd go along with Londontowner's £10 per couple in London.

But we tend to take into account the numbers in the tour & then do the maths.

Of course, more people equals more tips but also reduces the personal touch - so we tend to tip less.

Conversely with a very small group we kinda take pity on a good guide.

As a yardstick, a good guide should be very happy with a total of around £50 to £75 for a 2-hour tour.

But the quality of the tour is the main deciding factor.
