Nice cheap beach?

What would be a nice cheap beach to get to from the ship for a simple beach day?

two options. One, Vigie Beach. Walking distance from the piers, lovely long stretch of beach with calm waters, lots of shade, etc. However, no amenities to speak of. There are some food and rum shacks further down the beach near the entrance to the airport, and there are the bathrooms at the airport. No chairs for rent, no umbrellas, no real restaurants or bars around, etc. But - a very pretty beach, lots of shade, etc.

Two: Reduit Beach. This one is about 25 minutes north of the port by taxi ($30US one way), long stretch of beach with calm swimming waters, water sports for hire, chairs and umbrellas for hire, beach bars, vendors with coolers for beers and water, lots of dining around the village, and some shopping if you want.

So, enjoy wherever you end up!!

When you say US $30 one way do you know if that is per cab or per person? We will be a group of 6 and wondering if this will be $30 for all.

Pay It Forward. Be kind.

Cabs are priced per up to three people. Additional people should incur additional charges.....somewhat up to the operator. For six, fare one way should about $50us one way.....

Reedprincess, THANK YOU for the info regarding the cab. We are thinking of Reduit Beach but now saw an excursion for $30 pp threw our ship, which is an unguided, on our own, to Marigot Bay. I've read that there are restaurants and some shops there. My husband and I have been to St. Lucia and toured with Spencer, which was great, but our kids want to just do a beach day, swimming & snorkeling maybe. Would you recommend Marigot Bay? Excursion threw the ship does provide bus transportation, how far is Marigot from port? Thank you in advance for your guidance!!

Marigot Bay is about 30 or so minutes from port. Their is very little beaxh here, and while pretty, does front what is essentially a yacht harbor. Kayaking is available. Zero snorkeling. You would be hard pressed to entertain kids for a day in Marigot. It is a lovely photo stop and maybe for lunch but beaxh and snorkeling, not really.

You would be much better off with Pigeon island or Rodney Bay.
