Aurea v/s YC. Your opinion is most welcome

Wow. I have been reading on CC for some time, but I have only recently joined.

I'm really impressed by the wealth of information (Bea is my hero for now!),

In keeping with suggestions to my thread, I upgraded from Aurea on MSC Devina (stateroom 11002), to YC (stateroom 16003) and then... Read the reviews for the forward-facing YC staterooms on MSC Divina. Wow. Thanks to all the reviewers I believe our cruise will be enhanced. We are now booked to stateroom 16023.

I know that I'm new at CC, but I really wanted to say thanks.

And I really look forward to see all at Roll Call for Divina 23 September.

Be well and sail away!

Glad to hear you changed that cabin, Z! There is practically no view of the sea when sitting on the balcony in 16003. We were in the same number cabin on Splendida - I had to stand on tippy-toes to see over the metal hull! We had 15023 on Divina -almost beneath yours - much better situation!

On deck 16, you're only one deck down from the pool deck and one deck up from the Top Sail Lounge and Concierge.

Thank you Bea. It is precisely due to my understanding of your review that I asked my TA to get a stateroom on the side of the ship. As I wrote earlier, the expertise from people like you is quite appreciated. I hope to see you at some point. Regards.

The Deluxe (premium) drinks package is included for use around the rest of the ship.

You still get free access to the thermal suite in the Spa like you do with Aurea.

Your choice of newspaper delivered to your cabin every morning.

A concierge service to deal with any bookings you wish to make or any issues you need resolved.

Priority disembarkation at the ports of call should you need it (if you're not booked on an MSC excursion, you can request this at the concierge desk).

All of these are nice, but the best part of YC, IMHO, is the peace and quiet. The Top Sail lounge was rarely busy, and the One Pool seemed practically empty, no matter when I went.

Enjoy your YC experience!

We just returned yesterday from sailing in the YC and it was absolutely fantastic! We sailed the equivalent to Aurea a few years ago on the Divina and had a fantastic time, but YC was just so much better. Especially on a full summer cruise. I'm still feeling the disembarkation blues from being so spoiled! I think you made the right choice. Enjoy!

i'm realky excited and looking forward to the experience. Thanks again Bea for the great reviews. Thanks Fox as well.

I saw several questions as to whether YC guests can imbibe elsewhere on MSC Divina. I checked with my TA today and ascertained that indeed (and this appear to be recent) a YC guest can enjoy a drink everywhere in the ship, the exception being the double premium drinks (** on the menu).

Yes, since April 1st this year, YC guests get the Deluxe (premium) package for use outside of the YC enclave. All items except those with 2 asterisks as you say. There are wonderful treats in the Piazza del Doge on deck 6 that your package will cover. Also, the specialist coffees and hot chocolates in the Caffé Italia on deck 7.

  • 4 weeks later...

Well. Thanks for everyone's lovely input. Am on Divina YC right now. It is indeed uperlative. DW didn't click at all until she had a glass of prosecco in her hand, a cookie and a butler in the check-in lounge. Priceless, beautiful moment in a couple's life.

Today is a sea day. I believe the ship is near full, and I must say that a trot through the lido to get back from Le Muse to The One Pool revealed what essentially looks like a zoo or a colony of Emperor Penguins. Add to this that it is a super sunny and hot day, and the place is a humid steam bath. There is AMPLE room, tables, chairs and service out front on deck 18.

Only the first full day and I already think YC is worth every dollar.

The CC meet & mingle was quite nice, as was the YC welcome cocktail.

Should you have any questions, I will be glad to oblige.

Patrick.

I'm so happy for you!! We felt exactly the same way - not on an hour and we knew it was going to be something special!! If she's still on, please tell the sommelier, Dechen, that Tina and John say hello! Enjoy!!

That was a super suggestion by Bea. We met the people who «enjoyed» cabin 16002, and they confirmed the tippy-toes aspect and very limited view. They also added that the balcony was very hot and as such not a very welcoming environment.

In reply to post #24, Bea, we had a wonderful time in YC. Service was outstanding and super attentive in every respect, at all times. The comfort of the YC was immediately obvious as the ship was nearly full (3950 some guests) and the areas outside YC were scenes of pandemonium (lunching at Le Muse was a study in sociology, looking at guests scrambling for space near the Garden Pool).

We loved the staff, our butler, the concierge, the food, the premises and also the escort to disembark at different ports of call, especially on a tender (saved at least an hour).

Booked already for next year, on Preziosa and of course YC.
