Yes, another Cheers question

My wife and I will be cruising with another couple. We are getting the Cheers package. The other couple will only have 1 or 2 a day. If we are all sitting at a bar, will the bartenders say anything if we get a drink for them using our Cheers package? We won't be anywhere near the 15 maximum drinks per day.

Of course, we will be tipping the bartenders.

OK, I know this is technically against the rules. Please keep the morality comments to a minimum.

I thought about that if we are out by the pool. It would be no problem going to the bar and ordering a drink and bringing it back to the deck chair. just wasn't sure if we were sitting at a bar at night.

It is against the rules to share Cheers and if you are going to do this in front of a bartender, they will most likely tell you so, putting both the bartender and yourself in a awkward position.

If the other couple will only be having 1 or 2 drinks per day, they should just budget another $25 - $30 per day and self pay their own.

they can and should say something.

you bought UP TO 15 drinks that YOU can consume. you did not but 15 drinks on the cheers program.

even though you asked for the morality comments to be at a minimum doesn't mean that people should not provide their opinion on a public forum.

I appreciate you asking a specific question on a rule breaking topic but if you are looking for answers on a rule breaking topic , you should be prepared for comments to say what you already know. don't do it . You affect everyone when you do this because the more people do this, the more restricted they will be and the higher the prices can go.

If the average amount of drinks people consume go up on the cheers program, so will the price. Cheating the system this way will eventually drive the price up for all including the morality people that you are asking to keep the comments to a minimum

To specifically answer your question if they would care, My answer is that I would hope they will

and for all the people who feel self entitled (not directed at the OP) that want to call me the morality police or anything else... go for it.. Its a public forum. I teach my children to live by the rules and if you don't like the rules there are proper ways of dealing with it and breaking the rules because you don't like it is not the way.

I understand what everyone is saying. I was just thinking that since I am allowed to drink UP TO 15 drinks a day and I will not be drinking all of them, 1 or 2 might go unnoticed. I do not want to get anyone (bartenders) in trouble.

I try to follow the rules but figured this may just bending the rules. So, I will get the drinks for myself and let them have a BIG taste of it.:)

As others have said, in no way or shape is cheers meant to be 15 pre-paid drinks per day. Simply all YOU can drink with a limit of 15 per day. The justification that you can't drink 15 per day is irrelevant, the 'break even' point is around 6 drinks. No different than the unlimited drinks packages on all the other lines; sharing isn't permitted and can cause your package to be revoked with no refund.

You are way over thinking this and doing it the hardest way possible, you all want to drink together not be running back and forth to the bar.

Wait until later in the day once people have relaxed into their vacation a bit and let their guard down. You will notice a lot of folks stop paying real close attention to their sail and sign cards. Steal a couple a cards and start drinking. I immediately buy a bottle of booze and 4 coolers full of beers, then just toss those cards in the nearest trash can. You can do this daily and never get caught, it is a victimless crime too as the people you stole the cards from will just go to guest services and have the charges removed.

Sure, it's technically against the rules, but come on no one is getting hurt by it.

Why don't you have to follow the rules?

Hopefully your response is full of sarcasm. If not #1 I'm pretty sure when your S&S card is scanned your picture shows up. Yep that prevents theft from someone using others cards.

Busted right there.

Yeah, your picture shows up when they scan the card.

I bought a drink at the bar and my DH had the Bottomless Bubbles, since I was going, he gave me his card and asked me to bring him back a ginger ale. The bartender scanned his card and looked at me with a weird look on his face, I explained I was bringing it back to the room for him since I was getting my drink, so he was fine with it.

Two questions:

What other rules do you break?

Why don't you have to follow the rules?

First off, I was just asking a question. I said I know it is technically wrong.

Everyone needs to get off of their high horses. So, every one can honestly say that have never broken the speed limit? Never tasted a grape at the grocery store to see if it was sweet? That is stealing. Well, you broke the rules! I can give many other examples but don't want to waste my time.

I was respecting all you had to say and you sounded reasonable until you went here and decided to use the invalid argument that as long as other people break rules, these rules don't need to be followed.

people break rules.. they are wrong for doing it. having said that, the argument that if someone breaks the rules, then somehow it gives more justifications to break these rules are not valid.

Whether me, or anyone or everyone breaks every rule in the world doesn't justify that breaking a rule is wrong and shouldn't happen and this rule has an effect on other people so it shouldn't happen.

if you think that because someone breaks a rule in life that they now have to be quiet when you want to break the rules, I suggest you don't post on a public forum because whether someone breaks the rules or not, they have an opinion and are allowed to express it if you are coming to a public forum and asking to break the rules.

I will invite every single person reading this that if I post on a forum that I would like to break the speed limit and would i get caught to please speak your mind and tell me all you feel about that .

The point that makes this invalid is that people that breaks rules don't typically go on public forums asking if they will get caught and the ones that do get both sides of the argument.

I agree with you.

My last point I was trying to make is that so many people are coming on here with their holier than though attitude. i was just trying to say everyone at one point or another breaks rules.

Originally, I was not looking for commentary from everyone just asking a simple question. Several people just answered with a easy yes or no response. Believe me, i knew i was going to hear it but oh well. Such is life.

Happy cruising everyone.

Ahhhh, I love the wanna-be cops in this thread. As if Carnival would EVER cheat you, lol!!! Charging a $100 for a $18 bottle of booze sounds pretty legal. Or not. More like extortion. Maybe they need to charge for everything, such as juice, milk, food, water(Wait, they DO charge for that). Let he without sin cast the first stone??? Sounds like God has come back in multiple personalities on Cruise Critic!!!

With all the jabs out of the way, should you get your friends a drink?? Up to you. If it is one, maybe so they can try something without purchasing it first, why not??? If they plan on spending money on Carnival, whether it be extra food, casino, drinks, etc, then I am sure CCL could care less. Have a great cruise, and as you are sharing a drink with friends, laugh at the prudes:)

I seriously doubt they will let you use any of your 15 drinks for someone else. I have seen people ask to get a drink for their friend or whoever and the bartenders always told them they would have to pay for it separately. Even if you are tipping generously I don't see them risking their job over it, for the amount you would have to tip for them to MAYBE remotely consider doing it you could just buy the drinks in the first place.

Now as far as ordering a drink then giving it to someone else away from the bar, I'm sure you could get away with that just fine, but I would definitely be discreet about it. Don't order it at bar and pass it to your friend right in front of the bartenders, you will put them in a crappy position of calling you on it or ignoring it and hoping THEY don't get in trouble for not saying something. The crew works extremely hard to provide us all with a great time, don't do stuff that makes their job even more difficult.

Did Carnival implement a rule that to cruise you HAD to purchase an $18 bottle of booze for $100 [emoji848]....Oh wait, that's right....you CHOOSE to spend $100 for that $18 bottle. That isn't extortion [emoji108]

And when you go to book your next Carnival cruise and notice the Cheers package has gone up ever so slightly from $49.95 per day to $52.95 or $54.95 per day, because a couple of thousand people a week decide to sneak and share here and there, laugh even harder.

Drink up. And don't forget to propose a toast ... to the bean counters ... and the prudes.
