Kyoto to Tempozan Pier?

Has any one done this on the train to Osaka and subway or taxi to pier. Has any one used a taxi or other car service to the pier from Kyoto. We are traveling on our own and am not sure about the taxi cost direct to the pier. Plus the luggage seems like it would be a problem on the train. We are using one of the bus services from the airport to the hotel, but have found no service like this to the pier. Thanks
