Soooo excited...
I just booked our family of 6 on "The Big Family Cruise" vacation. Oasis of the Seas for 5/31/14. Our last whole family vacation, as the kids are getting older and one is starting college.
Between visitation schedules/work schedules/ school schedules - we have to plan so far in advance.
Just had to share my excitement!!!

Don't forget to make reservations for the shows you want to see. You won't be disappointed in any of them. The ice show is really special!!

Congratulations to the family vacation. And don't give up on it being your "last" family vacation. Just because you will have one in college does not mean that, that college-age child, won't want to relax with the family on a cruise ship.

Congrats to you. We are a family of 6 and I have yet to be able to get us all on a family cruise at least one that I can afford. And you're going Oasis class, so that's even more impressive.
Are you doing two cabins or a Family stateroom ?

I agree - don't give up on family vacations. We managed to work around the college schedules and work schedules to take many a family vacation. I believe, as our children get older, they realize the importance of family vacations and will work with their schedules to make it happen.
And, I second the comment about the shows. This is one ship where you will want to see all the shows. The entertainment is different than on other ships and the quality of the talent seemed better, too.

If Europe in August 2014 would hurry up and open for bookings I would have your record 523 day countdown beat

We booked our cruise 538 days out - and it's probably not a record either!

We are very excited about the shows! So much to do, lots to read about on cruisecritic.
We have only been on two cruises before this. Littlest daughter and I went to most of what was available, for shows and enjoyed them. She even got on the Conquest's stage and sang a solo for the talent show. I was impressed!
What is the time frame for reserving shows ahead of time?

We went on the Monarch in 2010. Carnival Conquest in 2012 and now looking forward to Oasis in 2014. Started with 2 rooms/ 3 each. Conquest was 2 rooms, oldest DD was missing - so 3 kids in an OV and us next door. On Oasis - I gave them choices. And was very surprised at what they picked.
Gave the 4 kids the choice of 2 separate Q type interior (2 kids per cabin), next was a promenade room for the 4 of them, and last was a OV balcony next to ours. The voted and all wanted the promenade room! That was the cheapest option too!
So 7th deck, promenade room with a pullman (most of the 3/4 person options were 2 kids on a sofa bed, not gonna happen for us! Kids were too big already for that. So, only a few cabins were still available that worked for kids. Parents are in a D5 balcony nearly across the hall. I got the two rooms that I wanted! Whoohooo. LOL
Sometimes, its the simple things. This will be the most expensive trip that we will ever have been on. Probably once in a lifetime for us all, on this type of ship. But I will never say never, I guess.
