Serenade 1054 - Two Bedroom "Suite"

It is definitely not a suite and has no suite perks. However it is a very nice, very large two bedroom ocean view. I'll be happy to answer any questions as I just spent a week in that room.

We stayed in Serenade 1054 on a cruise last year. In a word: Phenomenal. Frankly, I don't want to say too much because then it will be impossible to ever book this room again. The room is ENORMOUS. And because it isn't a balcony room, the price--at least on our sailing--was UNBELIEVABLY GOOD. The floor-to-ceiling windows on the hump provide an amazing view. The main room is CAVERNOUS. The second room is small but great for kids. The master bedroom is pretty spacious. All in all, this is a great room.

My only criticisms are that the room seemed really creaky to me, and it wasn't just the motion of the ocean. I've been on enough cruises to know that the problem lay in the room, not the seas. I think when they installed the new room after removing the Conceirge Lounge, they didn't slot it in quite right. Second, in the master bedroom, the noise from the Centrum's music is pretty loud. Bring earplugs if you want to go to sleep before midnight.

I second all of that, especially the creaking noises.

That is exactly what Radiance TFS 1054 looks like EXCEPT...on Radiance it is a full suite with all the perks and has a narrow balcony where the floor to ceiling windows are. A great cabin!! My sister, her husband, and three kids enjoyed it immensely on our Alaska cruise last summer.

How was service on board?

This room is classified as an Oceanview, so you do not receive any of the suite perks. You do have the same room steward as the suites do, but other than that it is simply an Oceanview. They do have two-bedroom rooms that are considered suites on some ships, but this is not one of them. I think it is simply because of the lack of a balcony.

On the first day as I was unpacking (and plugged in an extension cord (only for cruises) to run to the bed), we tripped the breaker for our room causing both TVs and all of the electrical outlets to stop working. Maintenance was in the room within ten minutes and resolved the issue within twenty minutes. I think the room is so large that the breaker is already close to being overloaded. I have used that extension cord onboard before and it didn't have any issues.

Service onboard was excellent. Every staff member that we encountered in all venues were polite, friendly, helpful, and always in a good mood. I honestly have never sailed on a ship that I thought the staff was any better. The casino bar staff was amazing all week, definitely our Wow moments. When the casino would run out of my preferred wine, they searched the ship and always found more for me, until the last night. I had officially drank the ship out of that wine. ;)

The only area that was lacking in our opinions was the food. MDR menus were boring and uninspired, food was rather bland, and they ran out of lobster on formal night! The Windjammer seemed like an after thought. Frequently only serving one meat, one fish, two veggies, a potato dish, then some dried up pasta for lunch. Breakfast buffet was mediocre, they were out of bacon by the third day, and out of cheddar on the fifth day. We ended up eating many of our meals in Giovanni's and once in Chops.

That is a fabulous looking cabin! I'm kind of surprised they don't grant suite perks to the cabin, call it a "Window Suite" and charge somewhere in between a JS and a GS for it!

I was really surprised too. They could have charged much more for this room, but didn't. We ended up just being two people with all that space, so it was wonderful!

Umm I mean it was terrible, no one should book this room, ever. ;):D

Thinking tonight and working on our survey, we did have one service complaint... The hostess at Chops. She was rude, demeaning, and totally should not be working in a speciality restaurant. When we arrived for dinner she tried to tell us our reservation was not for that night and that they were fully booked (the room was virtually empty on entry and exit) luckily the manager stepped in and seated us. Another night we wanted last minute reservations, she again stated they were full. We ate at Giovanni's instead, but checked on Chops capacity (several times) and they were no where near full. This hostess should be put back on buffet duties as she clearly did not understand her job.

We are staying in this room for a cruise in Nov. of this year and was wondering if the first bathroom had a shower in it? Thank you for the review, it really helped us feel more comfortable we made the right choice with this cabin since we will have two adults and three children in the room.

I have read posts on the Serenade, regarding poor Service, rudeness etc. We will be on her in Oct. We don't put much thought to the food. Our sailing on the Radiance this past March thru May was outstanding.

Both bathrooms have showers. The bathroom just off the smaller bedroom (the one with two lower double beds and two Pullmans) has a standard small circular shower. The bathroom attached to the main bedroom has a large shower/bathtub.

We are staying in this room for a cruise in Nov. of this year and was wondering if the first bathroom had a shower in it? Thank you for the review, it really helped us feel more comfortable we made the right choice with this cabin since we will have two adults and three children in the room.

You will love this room and it definitely has plenty of space for a family of five. The "spare" bathroom has the standard circular shower with glass doors. The "master" bathroom has a bathtub with shower. I tried to take a bath, but at the speed it was filling up, I had to switch to a shower. If you pre-plan it, you can take a bath.

Aside from the hostess at Chops, the service we received from everyone aboard was wonderful. I have noticed that in most cases, people who complain about service are the cause of their own problem. If they would be polite and thankful for the person serving them, they would get better service.

For me, the food was lackluster in the main dining room. I totally understand everyone has very different tastes, so some may have thought it was wonderful.

Well, I guess the word is out. I called to do a mock booking for this room for October of 2016, and I was told it is only available for parties of 5 or more, and the price quoted is $9,117.00 even with the current BOGO 50 percent off promotion. That is more expensive than the GS.

We were lucky and scored the room about 60 days before sailing for only $749pp (plus $500 OBC, some from Royal and some from our TA). We only had two people in the room. I am guessing someone canceled and Royal wanted to get it booked quick.

We booked the room about 10 months in advance. I forget what it cost for the five of us but it was definitely less than a Junior Suite. It was around $4500 if I recall. To me, that was a tremendous bargain given how big the room was. We've had JS's and a GS once, and this room is much larger than either. It doesn't have a balcony but it has amazing wrap-around views.

At that price, I would book a true suite and get all the extra perks of suite life that this room does not offer.

Wow, you really scored a great deal. RCCL generally will not allow booking for "family" rooms unless you have 5 or more people. I tried several times to book my family of 4 into a "family" room (be it inside, promenade or OV), and I was told each and every time that no exception to the rule will be made until closer to the sailing date (like 45 or 60 days out).

I have just booked this cabin for a 5 night out of Boston in the fall of 2016. There are 4 of us right now, but booked a 5th TBD. Even paying for 5 it was less $$ for us than separate cabins. This is going to be perfect for me, my 2 adult sons & girlfriends. :D We got it for $4K including gratuities & insurance. Yes more than I usually pay but for what we are getting, I think a great deal.

Just to clarify, the above picture shows two lower twins in the 2nd bedroom - this is the Serenade cabin 1054? I only need clarification as the "official" RCCL description says ONE lower non moveable twin bed. Thanks in advance for clarifying!! Booked in this cabin for a southern Caribbean cruise

Is there a walk in closet or ample storage for 5 people? We are taking a 10 night cruise so will have a lot of luggage. Thanks!!
