1st MSC 7 night cruise 12/12/2016 to Rome on Spendida

Mom and daughter trip from US. Hope someone can give us some advice

First time to Europe

Staying in Rome 12/10 and 12/11 pew cruise. Would live recommendation for Hotel within walking distance to Forum, vatican shopping and restaurants

Should we do a Vatican tour or not? Was thinking of going Sat afternoon. Our flight gets in around 10:45 am. Sunday it is closed. Other option is Monday morning before cruise starts. Not sure whatbtime check out is at hotels and would they still hold our luggage

Also was thinking about beverage plans. Not a big drinker but do like a beer here or there. My daughter drinks Prosecco

Definitely do the Vatican tour - go for late Saturday afternoon. There are some amazing sights in the museum there and the Sistine chapel is not to be missed.

Parc Guell in Barcelona is also a must see

Exact same cruise and port but on 27th match 2017. Staying in a hotel nearby train station where ill stay for 25th and 26th. Havnt planned any tour yet but youtube is a great help. so much to see in Rome.
